Tampa Bay beat the Orioles to give them their 15th straight loss. All fifteen have been by at least two runs, the first time that's ever happened. MLB should kick Baltimore out of the league.

Sano is pretty fast for a roly-poly.

Before this game, Higgy was in one of those funks, hitting 5 for 41 in August. Before this game Higgy had a 68 OPS+ so I wouldn't say he's even close to Gary offensively. If you want to use OPS+ as a weapon, I can’t fight you at 113-68. The OBP is the worst of Higgy’s products at .248. That’s simply disgusting. Higgy by the way has hit into 3 DPs compared to Gary’s miserable 11… But I prefer to look at the entire player. If there was a combined offensive/defensive measured number, it would not be 113-68. If I wanted to assign a number to these two Yankee catchers on defense that I felt represented them vs. their peers in the AL, Ian’s make them worth similar points (100 being average), I’d grade Higashioka at about 92. Gary? Maybe 82. Add those to the OPS number and we see Higgy at 160 vs. Gary at 195. The gap is closed a bit. Looking at offense only, then Higgy is only about 60% of Gary. Combined he becomes more like 82% of Gary. Of course my numbers required a great deal of creativity, but I think they’re close enough to at least be interesting. If we could measure base running as part of offense, Higgy would pick up another point or two (mostly because Gary is horrendous), but if we graded BA more honestly, he’d likely lose those points…

I messaged him. I know he's going through some things. I hope he's doing okay.
