Our old friend Jake Cave saves two more runs from Stanton. What a shame… At least he’s only hitting .178… Oops! Did I cause that? That young Mr. Cave is a fine player that can field his position. He’s been most unfortunate with the bat this year…

Cave would have been a fitting subject for Kaybli's photoshop skills.

I think up grading the catcher position should be one of Cashman's biggest objectives of the off season. I've had enough of Sanchez and Higgy is just a back up. Add in the seeming desire for the pitchers to work with Higgy, and this is not the mismatch that some may think. When Gary is on one of his rare but patented hot streaks, it’s a man for boy comparison, but when Sanchez is in a funk, Higgy just never seems to drop that low… Before this game, Higgy was in one of those funks, hitting 5 for 41 in August.

I was too nice to Taillon. I guess every game has to go down to the wire.

Before this game Higgy had a 68 OPS+ so I wouldn't say he's even close to Gary offensively.

I actually was aware of that, but at least he’s had some hard hit balls that were caught during that string. He looked a lot better than Gary when he gets in one of those either hit into a DP or K on a down and away sliders, he’s impossible to watch at the plate. Luck plays no role in that crap…

Tampa Bay beat the Orioles to give them their 15th straight loss. All fifteen have been by at least two runs, the first time that's ever happened.
