After I blew my arm out, I made a throw from Cf that was all I had. I had read the runner when he was in between 2nd and 3rd. I knew he was going to run. I would estimate the ball took 23-hops to get to the plate. When it did it was exactly where it had to be to just nip the runner. Probably my last outfield assist. One of my very last games. I could still hit and produced plenty of power… But, I had pride, man. I just couldn’t be a poor throwing outfielder. Made me want to puke. And I didn’t enjoy playing at second base, which was about all I could handle with what was left of my arm…

I had to look up Ron Gant. He had over 300 HRs and over 1,000 RBIs. Jim Gantner played 17 seasons in the majors, all with the Brewers. I didn't realize he was around that long. Gant shirts. A high school staple. I have no idea if they still exist. Been a long since I heard anyone mention Gant shirts. |
