I told Tequila that this was Madness have so many teams to be in the Play-Offs...
Tequila hung her head, GIGGLED (for Inger) and said:
"BS this is great, in fact MLB should do a Play-Offs like March Madness = have 60 teams in the Play-offs and call it October Madness."
I quickly informed Tequila that there were only 30 Teams in MLB...
Tequila replied: "Then invite 30 more teams from around the World and make it a true WS!!!"
I hung my head, slowly shooked it from side to side and said = "This makles PERFECT SENSE!!! Please pass the mushroom Bowl Tequila..."

She got mad and said WE will start our own BB League...
I asked her if I could be the Commisoner?

First two series of the season are officially cancelled. Universal DH and 12 team playoffs were agreed on. Manfred said that elimination of shifts were on the table.

Games can't be rescheduled, because of interleague makes it too hard to reschedule.
Players will not get paid for cancelled games.
Again makes no sense they played games that got postponed for Covid with a million double headers.

If they eliminate shifts, I just might stop watching baseball. To me, tampering with the structure of the game on the field in this particular manner shall only cement the boring philosophy of “three true outcomes” currently ruining the beauty, excitement, and experience of the real game of baseball. Without the shift, there will be no incentive for hitters to become focused on contact, bat handling, a two-strike approach, and avoiding striking out. The all or nothing mentality and emphasis on lifting the ball are just killing the game. To offset an increasingly strained and boring product, baseball is encouraging players to emote and posture. There is a reason the NFL and college football have cranked up taunting violations. Such professional wrestling-esque behavior was distracting from the real draw - the game itself. |

I wouldn't eliminate the shift, but I would make it mandatory that all four infielders actually be positioned in the infield when the pitch is thrown. No more of the 2nd baseman playing in short RF. To me that is tampering with the structure of the game too. |

I certainly don't have warm and fuzzy feelings about the Players Association, but the owners make it seem like a gathering of saints by comparison. On most issues both sides could have split the difference and moved on and everybody could keep inhaling money. Now we've got the game cancelation BS to deal with and the players have a brand new grievance to get past. Those 27 years of labor peace sure flew by quickly. |
