Hicks may as well be swinging a pole vault. He may as well BE a pole vault. I think I want him gone more than I do Gallo…

The greatest driving song ever. I used to ride my motorcycle to this on the 101 to San Jose and San Francisco, weaving in and out of traffic: Already had this one in my playlist. Such an iconic song. Unfortunately, always makes me think of Hurricane Katrina.

Unfortunately, always makes me think of Hurricane Katrina. I prefer “Escalator to Nirvana”…🤓 For the most part, Zeppelin is too much for me…I guess I’m a soft-rocking kind of guy, flavored with a bit of folk music and sweetened with a small dose of country. Not much. I’m not I to Grandpa Jones doing “Blues, Despair, and Agony On Me”… The kids in school laughed when I said my preference was Country-rock. I think I recognized that ahead of my time. Glen Campbell was a big cross over star at that time. I liked Johnny Cash. That was because nobody was using the term and also because the were simply unaware that CCR, the Eagles, etc. were born of country rhythms and the roots of the south. They didn’t know Ray Charles had a strong influence in rock and roll… I’m a sucker for a good ballad. Sometimes even a bad ballad…

Half of their third LP is folk/acoustic, a huge swing from the heavy and hard bluesy second record.

Palmer’s voice can be a bit irritating to me, though…

If there was a bright spot in yesterday's game, it was Aroldis Chapman retiring all three batters faced and hitting 101 with his fastball. Consistency was be nice from here on out.

That and Carpenter getting two hits to move his BA over .300. I'm guessing he'll turn back into a pumpkin soon enough, but as Eric Chavez did briefly for the Yankees awhile back, let's enjoy it while he's here. For sure, a return to anything resembling normalcy by Chapman would obviously be a tremendous boost. Lots of "wait and see" before we reach that point.

Boone didn't even have Carpenter in the original lineup, only putting him in there when Rizzo was scratched. The manager needs to wake up.

I was surprised to see him in against Quintana, and Quintana killed him twice. But when the right handers came out to pitch, Matt was ready for them…

Quintana hasn’t had an ERA as low as it is now (3.33) since 2016…

Robert Palmer? Arnold Palmer? Are you old enough to remember the sportscaster Bud Palmer? No. I don’t recall him at all. I feel like such a child right now… Did he wear a bow tie? No. That was Bud Collier, the game show host…
