Scouting report on Greinke from reddit:
Its not everyday you get to face a future Hall of Famer. The Yanks are doing it for the second time this week. They are facing righty Zack Greinke. This year, he owns a 4.35 ERA in 82.2 IP. some nuggets about this years greinke: Greinke is a Pitcher who uses almost all Pitches out there : 4sm (35%), Curveball (20 %), Changeups (15%), Slider (15%), Cutter (10 %) and a Sinker (5%). What is interisting though: He doesnt use the Sinker or Slider against lefties. This year his stuff just doesnt move as much as greinke would probably like it to move. Only the Cutter and Changeup are ever so slightly above average in that category.
Looking at the value of his pitches, you see that his 4sm and Curveball are still very good (both -6 RV). Almost all of his other Pitches are below average at +4 RV (Slider: +5). If you look at recent years and the value these Pitches had you can see a sharp decline in the last 2 years. 2019 was his last truly elite year. The last 2 years he was still a good starting pitcher. This year he has been average at best.
The underlying metrics also support the bad stats. The Baseball Savant Front Page looks kind of sad for one of the best pitchers of the last decade+. His expected ERA is also way higher than his actual ERA: 5.64. His FIP and xFIP are closer to his ERA: 4.40 and 4.58. One upside for Greinke in these metrics: He still doesnt walk a lot of batters, top 5% in Walkrate. But he also doesnt strike a lot of people out: bottom 4% in K-rate.
His righty lefty splits are still pretty even though. Also: He doesnt get worse as the game progresses, so he isnt gassed up or anything. One interisting thing with Greinke's splits: Swinging on the first pitch is not a good idea against him. He has allowed a .537 OPS to all batters who swung on the first pitch and a .832 OPS to all batters who took the first pitch.
His outings have been pretty hit or miss, he can keep it at 0 ER and he could also go ahead and give up 7 ER. He wont go past the 6th inning though. At least he hasnt done it once this year. Now you may remember me saying he doesnt get gassed up. He doesnt, he just reaches a high Pitch count very early in the Game usually, he will still throw up to 90-100 Pitches. So while the first future Hall of Famer (Mad Max) the yanks faced this week is still pitching at the top of his game, Greinke is not. The Yankees should really take advantage of that and get on a roll after 2 promising Games.

Donaldson...back in the lineup! Dillon Lawson thinks he'll break out any minute now! His bat speed is still there!

Judge is there in CF to retire the side in the top of the first.

So they aren't just trying to dump him for anything weird.

So they aren't just trying to dump him for anything weird. Yankees were demanding a bag of new baseballs. Rays were adamant that batting practice balls were sufficient and wouldn't budge.

I don't know what's more surprising, multiple teams that are interested in Gallo or that the Yankees wouldn't jump on one of these offers just to shed his salary.

I figured a few prospects from Low A with little chance of advancing would be the best the Yankees could do. Just pull the trigger already. Next team that calls gets him.

Matt Carpenter is on a pace that would yield 60 home runs over a full season. And he's still trailing Judge.

Carp double followed by a terrible one-pitch AB from IKF.

I realize that the Yankees are contractually obligated to not hit when Montgomery is on the mound. But it's still frustrating to watch.
