Well, I fell asleep as soon as the game started, but it doesn't appear I have missed much, which is the veritable and proverbial par for one of Monty's starts. Ugh, bases loaded no one out. Monty's in trouble. Melendez with a dying quail single in front of Judge. Didn't Melendez kill his parents? This has been a good game to take a Sunday nap to.

The bad news is Monty being pulled. The good news is the Yankees are free to start hitting again.

Monty's pitches don't appear to have any bite to them, and walking two in an inning belies his usual favorable command.

That great start for the Yankee rotation is a distant memory now. I hope Cashman is paying attention.

Isn't this the second straight season Monty has had trouble getting support? Not that he was as talented as Monty, but I remember Ted Lilly was a pitcher for whom the Yankees invariably played poorly. There was something about his sad sack demeanor that brought out the worst in the team.

That great start for the Yankee rotation is a distant memory now. I hope Cashman is paying attention. I'll save us some time: "Uhhh, obviously, we were very active at the trade deadline. Ummm, of course, the Yankees are always looking to improve the roster to give fans the very best product we can put on the field. Having said that, uhhhh, we can only do our due diligence in making a deal; the other team has to provide a return that we believe is going to benefit us as well. Hal and the Steinbrenner family were certainly supportive and ready to do what was needed to be done. But, at the end of the day, uhhh, any deal we make has to make sense, and we just did not find a deal for a starting pitcher that made sense and would benefit us from the talent we already have. We will continue to use our young talent in the minor leagues and, uhhh, be active with any other opportunities that present themselves."

Carp with another double. What a story he has been.

Are you sure you aren't Cashman's speechwriter?

I'm stunned that Judge leads the AL in hits.

There was something about his sad sack demeanor that brought out the worst in the team. It is the second straight season! I always liked Ted Lilly, who went to Fresno City College, not far away from Fresno State University, Aaron Judge's alma mater. I thought he was a bulldog, but he also never benefited from run support or great defense when needed. Do you remember or rather know of Ted Lyons? Louisiana boy with a long Hall of Fame career, missing three years to WWII after like 20 years of MLB.
