Latest start, 9 innings and 1 hit given up, no runs. In 4 starts Montgomery has given up 1 run. 26 innings pitched, 13 hits given up, .35 ERA Go Bader? Montas??? Thanks Cash While I don't agree with this trade at all lets not act like Monty was putting up those kind of numbers for the Yankees.

His ERA is better than the guy we gave up the prospects for though.

The perverse side of me wants to see Monty settle in as exactly that high level of pitcher he has been so far for the Cards. I will applaud each and every reminder of the Cashman, et al, debacle to move him for such little in return. I hope it becomes a historically bad trade for the Yankees. Trading Maris was a bad one. Also Willie McGee. That big, LH first baseman for the Blue Jays and Rays, and Braves, I think (can't remember his name) was really good. I would like to see Monty excel.

Willie McGee was a first round draft pick for the Yankees, who traded him to the Cardinals for the immortal Bob Sykes. Fred McGriff, who over an 18 year career batted .284/.377/.509/.886, was traded with Dave Collins, Mike Morgan and cash to the Toronto Blue Jays for Hall of Fame snubbed Tom Dodd and Dale Murray. The guy hit 493 home runs and 1550 RBI. Yankee Stadium was made for him.

Yeah. McGriff. Sorry, I just couldn't think of his name. Buhner too was a bad trade. Mateo is nothing.

Another shutout for Montgomery. 6 innings of shutout ball. I would take 1-0 wins at this point.
There might not be a post season, will come down to wire, in large part due to this trade.
