Hicks under pressure to extend his hitless streak. I was hopeful at the trade deadline that Hicks would be wanted somewhere. He had gotten his OBP to a reasonable level without actually hitting well. More than likely, the Stanton injury influenced the Yankees, that and justifying Hicks' contract. Now, it will be back to the longest swing in the major leagues. |

Rays won so Jays stay 11 back.
Houston up 6-0 so if that holds the best record lead is 2.

I looked up the actual hitless record for a position player and it appears to be Chris Davis's 0-54 achievement. So Hicks really is almost halfway there. Although it will be tough for him to get that far. At some point they would just bench him. I think. |

Didn't they stop that process last year? Hmm, maybe so. A lot of weird things came around with Covid. I never liked the concept anyway. For many years the trade deadline was June 15, which to me was preferable because it discouraged more teams from selling off their players. Yep, no more waiver trades allowed. Manfred! |
