We’ve seen this before with A-Rod and probably Jeter, too… There was no chase for Jeter because he made it clear prior to negotiations that he was not going to entertain any offers from other teams and would never play anywhere else but the Yankees, essentially remove all leverage from his negotiations. The only thing he asked was that the process be kept out of the press. Cashman, of course, made it public for no reason. The Yankees extended A-Rod's contract before it ended. A-Rod had an opt out clause. Cashman gambled on not extending Judge and lost. Cashman is a prick when it comes to people. I believe he really thinks he's responsible for the Yankees' World Series championships from 1998 to 2009. It’s not nice to call a man you don’t know a prick. If you examine the situation a bit deeper you will see that he’s an emotionless prick. Do your homework next time… 🤓

I know this isn't an opt out and it's a contract end for Judge, but it's very similar where both were on the open market after an MVP season with the Yankees. However most of that was Boras trying to up the prices and whatever we have no idea if Judges agent is just blowing smoke with the Giants stuff. Like I said Passan is usually right about this stuff so I dunno where Morosi is getting that it's anywhere near 50/50. Obviously Judge is way more beloved by Yankee fans than A-rod ever was, but its def more similar than Jeter's contract.

I have a completely different and wrong recollection. I appreciate the recalibration and correction reset.

If WE go 9-Years = Might end up with another Tex, Ellsbury, Stanton TYPES, etc. = The older they get the worse their Stats get (with a few exceptions, etc.).
Let S.F. sign him for nine years and lets sign two more starting pitchers -- We Florial for CF--Cabera for RF and re-sign binny.

I still feel we don't even have a real feel of how much of a threat the giants actually are we don't even know their offer and all these leaks seem to be Yankee based only. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Probably waiting for another offer to materialize so the Yanks increase their bid.
