I didn't either, but I do recall his being peeved by what is normally seen here as good natured ribbing and silly humor. JW and I had planned to go to a Yankees-Oakland game together, but I had to bow out at the last minute. I suppose he had that side to him, but on the board he often got involved in discussions about our mutual love of Soupy Sales and Mad Magazine and Bullwinkle. So he could definitely laugh at low humor like most of us. I had a philosophy professor at LSU who always reminded me of Bullwinkle with a long beard. Dr. Schufreider. Great lecturer on the existentialists. Knew his Heidegger, Kant, Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, etc. |

Stanton is 5-for-41 as a pinch hitter with no home runs. Simple stats. Same reason we keep seeing Rizzo in the 3rd or 4th spot. Boone manages the players based on what they've been most of their career instead of what they are now. |

Well I find that quite surprising. Not the tone I got from him from our emails. He would still be a good guy to have around here. It's not like JWild was the only poster that didn't migrate over here when Scout went down the drain. I wish more of them would have given this place a chance, but they didn't. We didn't get a chance to PM most of them as the old board's PMs were broken. Many didn't even know of this place. a few were on Twitter with me at the time. They haven't twitted anything in years tho. |

I didn't either (except for a disagreement over Nolan Ryan, but that was just an exercise in stats) but I do recall his being peeved by what is normally seen here as good natured ribbing and silly humor. JW and I had planned to go to a Yankees-Oakland game together, but I had to bow out at the last minute. Yeah I split with him on Ryan too. He just didn't like him (or apparently anything from Texas.) He didn’t care for my assessment of Ryan, either. And he sliced and diced Koufax. He once told me that he could offer couples sexual counseling “If I ever thought I needed that sort of thing.” That was odd because it just sort of came out of nowhere, but kind of him to offer. I have t found too ms y people that are completely humorless if you can find their funny bone. Including him. Sometimes, quite honestly I didn’t finish reading all of his dissertations because they went a bit too deep and kind of sunk into an abyss… But I did read most of his posts and felt the energy and responsibility that he put into them… |
