Just do it Hal!
(I know there's little chance since a thirty million dollar per year contract will cost 60 million with the luxury tax now)

Yankees will not give Snell a short term deal with opt outs. The forfeit of draft picks and IFA funds is not something the Yankees want to do according to reports. Boras will certainly use the opt outs to get a bigger/longer deal unless his client was hurt of course.
Boras over played his hand with this free agents this year and got too greedy.
Guys like Bellinger should be OK for opening day but doubt Snell/Montgomery will as we enter into March whenever they sign.
Yankees prefer a deal for Cease rather than sign Snell and this might be the route to take along with Beiber. They might just wait until the trade deadline to address any needs they might have at the time.
The luxury tax rate is actually 110% for the Yankees now

Another Boras client agrees to a deal.

Another Boras client agrees to a deal. Even that money is crazy for a guy that’s showing strong signs of severe decline…

Another Boras client agrees to a deal. Even that money is crazy for a guy that’s showing strong signs of severe decline… And his bat hibernates for months during the season. Lots of green for approximately five weeks of hitting.

yup crazy money for chapman, a guy who though he's a GG at 3B has averaged .226 over his last 4 seasons.
would take monty over snell. snell has the higher upside but monty is more "consistent". also monty doesn't cost them draft picks. think monty will require a longer term contract. at this point, snell is probably looking at an opt out deal similar to bellinger and chapman.
unless everything goes perfectly w our SP (injury free and rodon & cortes bouncebacks), we need another starter to put us "over the top". but understand hal's reticence to have to pay the 110% LT penalty. also think he's feeling a little burned by the rodon contract (another boras guy) and may not be so willing, given the high price of getting sucked in again.
they'll go with what they have for now unless the wheels fall off. a more likely scenario is trade deadline deal.

I heard that the Yankees are in talks with the WSox for Cease. Cease talks. Start Cease talks. Cease cease talks. I’d like to get him. Lots of raw talent…

Start Cease talks. Cease cease talks. I’d like to get him. Lots of raw talent… If they get Cease, they should try to bring Mike Fiers out of retirement so they could have a Cease-Fiers combo. Unless they can find a guy named Desist, that would be even better.

Forget Cease, he's heading to San Diego.
