I think Hal and Cash are rebuilding "the Bronx Bombers" but at the same time looking for the right pitching deals. Honestly, signing a pitcher for 10 years who has never thrown a pitch in MLB is a major gamble. Giving Montas the kind of deal he got is also likely wasteful. I'm not sure if Severino gave the Yankees a chance to match the Mets' deal or if Cash was even interested, but that could have been a very friendly deal. I think you'll see at least two more pitching deals before pitchers and catchers report. I think Sevy being so unreliable and injury prone finally sealed his departure from the Yankees. On the bright side for Sevy, staying with the Mets, he doesn't even havd to sell his house! I like Sevy, but no way I wanted him back. Over the last five years he has pitched a total of 209 innings and gone 13-12 with an ERA+ of 93. Let him help bolster the Mets' IL on their dime. Players who get hurt every year will continue to get hurt every year.

I always liked Gio. But unless the Yankees have a trade in the works, I don't understand them being interested in signing him.

I always liked Gio. But unless the Yankees have a trade in the works, I don't understand them being interested in signing him. Infield depth piece at this time… He’s no longer strictly a 3B… I’m still hoping for a deal sending Gleyber away. Maybe that’s what’s in the works…

I liked Gio but with DJ on the roster he simply is not a fit. The Yankees should use the spot for someone who can both field and pinch run.
