I always liked Gio. But unless the Yankees have a trade in the works, I don't understand them being interested in signing him.
Infield depth piece at this time… He’s no longer strictly a 3B… I’m still hoping for a deal sending Gleyber away. Maybe that’s what’s in the works…
I rather the Yankees re-sign Torres, put Volpe at 3B, and Peraza at SS. But I realize that's probably not going to happen and I also realize that Torres is probably the Yankees best trade candidate. I could be wrong, but I don't expect DJ, Torres, and Peraza to all be on the Yankees 26 man roster next season. I think out of the 3 of them, Torres is the most likely to get traded. That is, unless for some reason the Yankees are going to keep Torres and let in walk after next season.

I disagree that Torres is likely to be traded. I cant imagine a scenario that would work for the Yankees and a trading partner.
The only thing the Yankees need is starting pitching ... They are deep in IF/ OF and Catching prospects A: Starting pitchers are a scarcity and no team is going to trade solid starting pitching for a Free Agent to be 2nd Baseman ... it just doesnt make sense B: Teams that are willing to trade pitchers are likely not contending right now so they will be looking for a package of prospects in return ... Not a Free Agent 2nd baseman C: The other scenario would be for a package of minor league pitchers ... and that would probably not help the Yankee this season and they are in Win now mode
For those reasons the Yankees are much more likely to trade Peraza and a few others for a starting pitcher
It is not just the right of the person who speaks to be heard. It is the right of everyone in an audience to listen. Every time we silence someone, we make ourselves a prisoner of our own action, in that we deny ourselves the right to hear.
Freedom of speech is meaningless, unless it protects the freedom of the person who thinks differently.

I was not a Torres fan a few years back. His brain cramps used to drive me nuts. While I still get annoyed at his occasional lapses, his talent has won me over. The Yankees cannot afford to lose his productivity.

There is the issue of salary that ownership might want to address. Torres is going to get about $15 M this year. With the LT, his total cost to the Yankees might be about $20 M more than leaving the position to Peraza. The Yankees might need that money to buy starting pitching on the free agent market.
Not sure if that s true or not but either way ... I really doubt the Yankees, who are in all out win now mode, are going to hand a position to a guy that batted .190 last year, to save $20M or about 5% of the Total Payroll

The trade Gleyber stuff is so stupid. They just improved the offense greatly with Soto and verdugo is a real player and not a aaaa player like Bauers and co and yea sure let's now make the team worse by getting rid of a 30 hr 270 avg or so guy.
