I’ll just utilize the old saw that says that sometimes the best trade is the one you don’t make. Who knows who the Brewers wanted or what he might be able to do for us this year or in the future? As for Burnes… He should be in his prime, and probably is, but his ERA has trended up the past couple years, his K rate dropped last year and his BB rate increased. Those can be signs of an early dip in production, or maybe a positive that he’s trying to pitch more to contact. I don’t know the player well enough to say. We take our army to war. We’ll get a few more soldiers along the way. We’ll see…

Everytime over the last ten years or so when the yankees have said “ the price is too high to pay “ it had burned them one way or another . So tired of it . They go all in on soto but then as usual go cheap on the pitching .

They go all in on soto but then as usual go cheap on the pitching . On the one hand, the price was too high. From the rest of the league’s standpoint it’s probably “Cashman won’t meet the price. He’s a skinflint so we ask him for more than we ask anyone else.”..

Ferguson, 27, posted a 3.43 ERA with 70 strikeouts and a 1.44 WHIP in 60 1/3 innings for Los Angeles last year. He made seven starts among his 68 appearances, all as a one-inning opener. He's also posted a 3.43 ERA over his five-year career, all with the Dodgers...
-------- looking at some video of Ferguson, his delivery looks a lot like Kershaw. He has put up some decent numbers, and may be a useful bullpen arm. ------Oburg Bob

It was his first full season back from TJ, so maybe he’ll be stronger in 2024. That and his WHIP both need a tweak…

YANKEES Yankees, Mets interested in bringing fan-favorite third baseman back to NY Updated: Feb. 06, 2024, 12:37 p.m.|Published: Feb. 06, 2024, 11:48 a.m. By Manuel Gómez | NJ Advance Media for NJ.com
Mets and Yankees are interested in third baseman Gio Urshela. Nothing would make Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres happier than to be reunited with third baseman Gio Urshela again.
On Tuesday, MLB insider Jon Morosi reported that Urshela “has drawn interest” from the Bronx, but there’s competition. The Mets and the Marlins are in on the Colombian-born infielder as well.
Urshela played three seasons in New York, posting a .292 batting average, second-best among third basemen with at least 1,000 plate appearances from 2019-2021. He added 41 home runs in Yankees pinstripes, 23 more than he has in his other five MLB seasons combined.
Ahead of the 2022 season, he was traded with Gary Sánchez to the Twins for Josh Donaldson, Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Ben Rortvedt. Donaldson and Kiner-Falefa are no longer with the Yankees, while Rortvedt is slotted as the third catcher on the team’s depth chart.
Urshela would slot in behind DJ LeMahieu at third base. The Yankees could also provide Oswald Peraza, who startd 33 games at third in 2023, with more playing time at the position.
With Ronny Mauricio suffering an ACL injury in the Winter Leagues, Urshela could be a good defensive option for the Mets at third base too.
In December 2023, The New York Post reported that the Mets were interested in Urshela. Should they sign him, he’s projected to get a two-year, $20 million deal, he’d join Harrison Bader and Luis Severino as Yankees castoffs to switch over to the Mets.

Still trying to figure that one out.

Thanks, Dome! I think Snell is nuts looking for those years and dollars… He's not nuts for asking. Somewhat delusional, perhaps, but not nuts. Now, if any MLB team meets those demands, and gives him a 9-year deal for $30 million a year...THAT would be nuts. '
