Nightengale!
On Sunday, USA Today MLB insider Bob Nightengale revealed an interesting bit of new intel on the possibility of the Yankees adding an ace soon. “The New York Yankees are still open to acquiring Chicago White Sox ace Dylan Cease,” Nightengale claimed.
However, there is a hold-up to a potential deal. “[The Yankees] refuse to part with prized outfield prospect Spencer Jones. They also rebuffed the Milwaukee Brewers’ request for Jones before the Brewers sent Corbin Burnes to Baltimore,” the MLB insider wrote.
Always entertaining to find out what Bob got wrong the next day. As for Cease, he's had one really good season and has strikeout stuff, but he isn't Gerrit Cole.

He is no burnes either and probably wont cost much less than what the brewers wanted from the yankees . Why? Because he has 2 years control left and is still pretty young

Long term contract signed if we’re giving up premium prospects. No Jones, no Warren. No Hampton unless the ink is dry… then maybe… Cease is signed for two more years so I'd trade Warren or Hampton for him, except it's going to take more than that to get him.

Yeah and cease isnt worth it So you’d rather hug the prospects then, huh? 🤓… He isnt worth what the brewers asked for burnes and its likely gonna take atleast close that much to get him . And last i checked cease is no burnes . I wanted to trade jones and hampton for burnes , a top 5 starter in all of mlb . Now if they ask for warren and pierria or peraza , then yeah i would do it .

I'm open minded about moving young talent, but pushing all the chips into the center of the table in the hope of one year success, seldom results in a guaranteed outcome. If we can get Cease for a package that doesn't mortgage our future, but give the top prospects a chance!! Keep on hugging. Bob ----

I'd rather wait for the trade deadline and try to get one of those than to pay a mega price for a Burnes or a Cease in ST. I think Burnes is a very good pitcher...but he ain't Cole. Same is true for Cease. Cashman screwed up when he did not add another arm earlier in FA but there are still a couple of 100 inning guys out there he might get.

How much the Yankees are willing to give up probably depends a great deal on what Blake thinks of him. Blake has done an overall good job of getting more out of some pitchers. He's also had a couple fails, but I suspect the Yankees really trust his judgement.

Blake has done ok with the bullpen arms but outside of maybe cortez he hasnt really done much for the starting pitching

Bob ---- Thats pretty much what the yankees have been doing for the last 15 years or so and how much success have they had ? How one can still be clamoring for top prospects to be given a chance after the amount of prospect hugging we have seen from cashman over tye years is beyond me .
