Unless he plays his azz off and releases all that untapped potential… Yeah...much will depend on how either Grisham/Verdugo perform. But I don't see Verdugo being happy as a 4th OF, especially since it is his walk year. Regardless, if Yanks sign resign Soto he's gonna play somewhere, and I prefer Judge in RF. As do I, but it seems the Yanks see Soto in RF. Sort of because it’s all he can handle…

I like Verdugo on our team. I wouldn't be so quick to run him out of town. We've seen that the Martian isn't invulnerable to injury, so...let Verdugo and Stroman stir the drink, give this team some fire. I love Judge, but he and Stanton aren't the barn-burning kind of players we need to go deep into games w/ the like of the Astros, say. I have no problem with Verdugo...in fact, there's much about him I like. If Yanks hadn't acquired Soto I'd have no problem with him as the everyday LF.

I noticed that he played 154 games in left. No DHing. you’d think if the Pads thought he was as bad as his rep afield they might have DH’d him a few times…

Frankly, IMO worrying about him in the OF kinda gets back to the belief that Yanks must have an AS at every position. Players that excel both offensively & defensively are the exception, not the rule. For every Mantle there are several Kingmans, Cansecos & Mannys.

I've always though thought that the Current Yankees lacked attitude and that was a big part of their recent problems. All of the core Yankees are soft spoken smiley guys ... and an entire team of nice guys is too soft ! Judge, Cole, Gleyber, Volpe and of course, Mr. Softy himself, Stanton are all soft spoken, smiley, say the right thing guys ... We need someone to shake it up.

Before you YES refugees all came aboard I did a post with simple standard fielding stats that showed that Soto got to plenty of baseballs afield with a respectable fielding pct. The only number that jumped off the pages is that -8 in the OAA for 2023 (and -10 in 2022. Since he had plenty of PO and a respectable fielding % it’s hard for me to see how he could be a horrible clown show afield…

Seems to me somewhat subjective.

Aaron Boone leaning towards batting Juan Soto second, Aaron Judge third. Aaron Boone: "I'm preparing to play Judgie in center a lot." Adds that he has also talked w/ Judge about possibly playing a little LF, possibly on days w/ Grisham in CF.
If he's going got play Judge in CF a lot, I'd like to see him also give Judge a little more time DHing when the Yankees are playing on artificial turf.

I do not like the idea of Judge in CF on a regular basis, but apparently Soto can only handle RF. So I would play Judge in RF and have Soto DH 30 or so games. DH Judge 30 or so and that keeps him pit of CF a little. I wonder what Soto thinks about DHing? I'd be willing to bet the Yankees and Boone do everything they can to make his Yankee experience a good one if they have a strong desire to extend him.
In a perfect world Soto re-signs with the Yankees and agrees to move to 1B when Rizzo leaves. A move like that would eventually give the Yankees room in their OF for Jones, JD, and Judge, while Stanton is still on their team. A move like that also leaves room for Pereira when Stanton leaves. In my opinion, it's too soon for the Yankees to give up on Pereira.

The Yankees should have plenty of offense as to allow Grisham to play center. It is not going to make Verdugo happy in his "walk" year...but I think I'd jockey him to all 3 outfield positions and maybe some games at DH against a very good right handed pitcher. I don't want Judge to play center. I hope the Yankees see it that way. Agree re all points. In fact, Verdugo is probably gone when Dominguez returns. Verdugo is going to play more than Grisham but I hope Boone platoons them, with Grisham playing against lefties. Both of these guys hit left handed but has it's been already mentioned, Grisham has reverse splits.

Grisham will get his ABs against lefties and as a late inning defensive replacement.

Look who was his Manager at Boston was Alex Cora. He gets a fresh start with the 2024 Yankees. He seems to be excited in joining a team who has a chance, where as the Red Sox future isn't too bright.
