I like Verdugo on our team. I wouldn't be so quick to run him out of town. We've seen that the Martian isn't invulnerable to injury, so...let Verdugo and Stroman stir the drink, give this team some fire. I love Judge, but he and Stanton aren't the barn-burning kind of players we need to go deep into games w/ the like of the Astros, say. I'm all for guys with fire, but it seems the line on Verdugo is that he is a troublemaker. If that's the case, the Yankees should have left him in Boston. Inger is a troublemaker, and he's been able to fit in here nicely. With the drama of Domingo German last season, I have a feeling that clubhouse can handle Verdugo, who will likely acquiesce to the 6'7" 282 pound Aaron Judge, who no one doubts is the leader of that franchise. Judge is respected across the league, as was Derek Jeter, and when those two guys choose to speak - especially when they always walk the walk - players listen.

Look who was his Manager at Boston was Alex Cora. He gets a fresh start with the 2024 Yankees. He seems to be excited in joining a team who has a chance, where as the Red Sox future isn't too bright. Clipper As far as I'm concerned Verdugo's got a clean slate with the Yanks and me. That said, I had originally said I'd never heard anything negative re him during his time with the Dodgers. Apparently there were, in fact, some "issues"... "When he was with the Dodgers, he wasn’t on their playoff roster but they kept him around in case somebody got hurt. Clayton Kershaw went up to management one day and told them to get him the hell out of this clubhouse. Within a couple hours, he was packed and on his way."

Time can change anyone. I'm for giving him a chance to enliven our ball-club.

I wonder what Soto thinks about DHing? I'd be willing to bet the Yankees and Boone do everything they can to make his Yankee experience a good one if they have a strong desire to extend him.
In a perfect world Soto re-signs with the Yankees and agrees to move to 1B when Rizzo leaves. A move like that would eventually give the Yankees room in their OF for Jones, JD, and Judge, while Stanton is still on their team. A move like that also leaves room for Pereira when Stanton leaves. In my opinion, it's too soon for the Yankees to give up on Pereira.
Yep then we could complain about how bad Soto is at 1B and why did we give a DH all that money

I wouldn't complain. If a hitter is putting up good stats, I couldn't careless if he was a DH making big money.

It seems baseball no longer has an issue with paying specialists big money. Relievers tossing 60 innings per year, DH’s… everybody gets the money…

I said earlier that Verdugo’s situation reminded me of Nick Swisher who had a manager that was a jerk and just couldn’t get along with him. At least I’m hoping that’s what has happened here. If Verdugo can’t snuggle up to the affable Boone he won’t make it anywhere…
