Yep. Some say Yanks should trade Gleyber before he becomes too expensive. That doesn't make any sense to me but regardless, whichever team traded for him would have to deal with the same issue unless it was looking for a one-year rental. Actually most say trade torres because they dont think he is worth signing long term because of his defense and he is a streaky hitter . And i agree . SOME say that...and, of course you do...

A proposal without Torres or Volpe is still a trade proposal…It’s just a proposal that didn’t work for the other team… Did the Reds have any interest in Gleyber? The reason they were trading Castillo was that he was just about to get expensive and they weren't going to be able to keep him when he became a free agent. Gleyber is in that same category. Yes, but what I remember hearing was they wanted Torres plus prospects.

That article is from January 2021, Castillo was traded in July 2022. Different settings. The question was asked if the reds had any interest in torres . Not about the 22 deadline . At the 2022 deadline the reds wanted volpe but the Yankees said no. They had two chances to get him

That article is from January 2021, Castillo was traded in July 2022. Different settings. That makes sense. Then the Reds interest was before they had Jonathan India, they guy they just gave up on and dealt away. His best season was 2021 as a rookie. His bat and glove have both regressed since then…

I don't care about trade rumors after the 2020 season, Castillo wasn't traded until half way through the 2022 season.

From That Article Fangraphs recently published their trade value list and had Luis Castillo as the 32nd most valuable player in trade value in baseball. They, however, had Gleyber Torres as the 8th most valuable player via trade in baseball.

And unless they let soto go they will probably lose torres for nothing after this season . And the rotation wouldnt be the mess that it is if they had said yes.

The Reds wanted Torres, plus. Later on, they wanted the Martian, Volpe, plus.

Now, it looks like the Reds don't even have room for India in their lineup unless he or another player are going to play a different position.
