I thought the Marcus Stroman rumor would quickly go away but there's a lot of chatter this morning that the Yankees are indeed negotiating with the mouthy right hander.
Any thoughts? Do we really want him in Pinstripes? Would the Yankees sill go after another starter even if they did sign Stroman?

Even if you look away from his attitude problems, his stats last year were kind of underwhelming. I’d take him if they got another better starter but I fear if they sign him he’ll be the main pickup. It’s not an automatic no. Depends on the contract and if they can sign somebody else. But I’m not enthused with a Stroman signing.

Based on his age and regression he's a bit of a question mark. One thing we don't need is another question mark in the starting rotation.

Yes on a very team friendly contract ... we need all the help we can get! Dont want him to be the main SP Signing as mentioned up top ... but I will take him over nothing
I'm talking $12m with incentives ... He's way better than Montas who somehow got $16M to probably pitch 50 inn or less

After that I would make a low ball offer to Hader in the $12-15m range for a few years

Those underwhelming stats would easily be 2nd only to Cole on the Yankees last season

I voted no. I don’t like signing a guy because he’s “better than nothing.”…Odd that he’s sort of come begging at the Yankees door. It sounds like maybe he didn’t have anyone knocking at his…

I was a flat out no for singing Stroman but I'm now reconsidering. I could go for a one or two year deal if and only if the Yankees a top tier starter to slide between Cole and Rodon. A big if that Hal's budget might not be willing to make.

A big if that Hal's budget might not be willing to make. I would have liked to have had a middle choice rather than flat out no. I don’t really like him a lot but if you look at his rate stats they’re pretty much in line with his career stats. I don’t see any signs of regression. The problem is that even without regression despite his flair for self promotion he’s never put up the kind of season that stood out. Early on he looked like he would become a top-tier pitcher but that just hasn’t happened. Could he still do that? It’s not too late. I have him in the “I’d rather have somebody else, but woukd take him” category. He made $25M each of the last two years in Chicago, and I’m thinking he would like an increase. Damn. Lots of bucks for maybe 10 wins…

I didn't vote, because it depends on what kind of contract the Yankees would sign him to. If its a team friendly-fair contract, that allows them to sign Hader, then I vote yes.
I'm not really a Stroman fan, but he's not a scrub. Besides, I don't want the Yankees to trade The Martian, Jones, Hampton. And, I don't want the Yankees to give Snell a bloated contract.

It is always about the price...whether it is paid in dollars or prospects. I want to save my prospects for trades at the deadline. There are still "average" guys available for money. I'd go that route..with Stroman, Lorenzen or someone else.

I am ok with stroman but i voted no because signing him screwms of desperation since its obvious they wont be signing monty or snell and i doubt they trade for anyone other than maybe bieber.

For a two year, reasonable contract? Is that now a thing of the past?
