Unexpected by me, but for a couple years in a moderate price range (in today's market - not much more than Frankie Montas), the signing fills an area of need after the Yankees put all but the most eggs in Yamamoto's basket, while watching other starters going elsewhere. Maybe the Oompah Loompah can magically spin a solid number three or four in the starting rotation... [br They still need another starter . I dont feel comfortable with a rotation that consists of 4 guys who very injury prone I agree. When is the last time the Yankees needed fewer than seven starting pitchers to complete a season?

Like I said before, I don’t hate this move if they make another one for a guy to be a number 2. But if this is the big move for a pitcher we might be in bad shape. Have to support Verdugo and Stroman fallacy this year. What a world.

Stroman has always wanted to be a Yankee… now it’s his opportunity to show he deserves to be I do always like it when a guy truly wants to be a Yankee. And he’s already played in NY…

I'm OK with this signings. They clearly needed one, if not two, viable mid-to-back of the rotation starters, and assuming Stroman stays healthy, he's one such starter. The fact that he's an extreme ground ball pitcher should mitigate his "blow-up" factor as he ages into his mid-30's, especially at the Stadium. The salary is a bit high, but not excessively so, given the current pitching market.

I just hope they don't think they're done. They need to sign or trade for one more SP.

I did not want the Yankees to sign Stroman and believe that he is an average back end starter at this point. That being said, I suppose that "average" at the back end will win us some games. As long as he wears pinstripes, I will support and root for him.

I like this deal IF they sign another starter... this takes the pressure off Warren for a bit. I'm sure he will get his chance this year but he doesn't have to be a 150 innings eater for them now...

Yeah. If he’s a mid to back end guy, I’m okay with it. Hopefully if he gets a little punky Judge, Stanton, and Cole get him in a corner and straighten him out. Maybe that’s what he needs. Get him to focus on baseball instead of his self love and he’ll win 16 or 18 games… 16 or 18, I'll take the under

I thought Stroman would be a good fit and from a baseball perspective he is...though the final dollar figure is high. Reading his history I do wonder if he isn't thin skinned. Some of his rants are concerning. The Yankees already have Carlos Rodon signed long term to do all the complaining I want to hear from millionaires. I also wonder why the Cubs were happier to sign a pitcher from Japan for big dollars rather than give Stroman the contract extension he wanted. But with all that, he is an improvement and the Yankees need innings.
