I thought Stroman would be a good fit and from a baseball perspective he is...though the final dollar figure is high. Reading his history I do wonder if he isn't thin skinned. Some of his rants are concerning. The Yankees already have Carlos Rodon signed long term to do all the complaining I want to hear from millionaires. I also wonder why the Cubs were happier to sign a pitcher from Japan for big dollars rather than give Stroman the contract extension he wanted. But with all that, he is an improvement and the Yankees need innings.I was also thinking about that. The Cubs signed an unproven pitcher instead of bringing back Stroman. There's potential for the Yanks to have a great rotation based on what Stroman and Rodon give them. Rodon was elite in 2021 and 2022.

Yeah. If he’s a mid to back end guy, I’m okay with it. Hopefully if he gets a little punky Judge, Stanton, and Cole get him in a corner and straighten him out. Maybe that’s what he needs. Get him to focus on baseball instead of his self love and he’ll win 16 or 18 games… 16 or 18, I'll take the under His high in wins 13 - 2017 11 - 2014

16 or 18, I'll take the under I would be pleasantly surprised if he wins 10. 10 wins would've been 2nd highest(to Cole) on the Yankees last season so that is in improvement

I'm going judge Stroman and all of the starters on stats other than wins, like innings pitched, ERA, WHIP and the advanced stats that I don't even know off the top of my head. There's just too many variables that go into wins and losses that a starter doesn't control. Look at Cole, he was the best pitcher in the AL last year but only won 15 games. He should have won 20+.

Does anyone know why Stroman has only started 25 games in each of the last two seasons?

Does anyone know why Stroman has only started 25 games in each of the last two seasons? Last season Stroman had a fractured rib that cause him to miss around a month of action.

until the yankees prove me by getting one of the top pitchers available like snell, monty, ceese or burnes, i will consider stroman the consolation prize, better than but similar in theory to kei igawa.

Thats a bit extreme ... Stroman is a quality MLB pitcher ... Igawa made 12 MLB starts in his career Actually statistically and production wise ... Stroman is comparable to Monty My only concern is that he had a hip problem and of course Cashman tends to disregard inhuries when making big moves. I could see him missing half the 2024 season with the same injury

let's see if he has any juice remaining. If he doesn't, well.... Why don't we go all in on healthy pitchers instead of saving money with injured ones? It hasn't worked out for us.

There just are not very many of those. The population of guys who can pitch over 150 innings of MLB is tiny and the 200 inning club would fit in a New Jersey diner booth !

I did not want the Yankees to sign Stroman and believe that he is an average back end starter at this point. That being said, I suppose that "average" at the back end will win us some games. As long as he wears pinstripes, I will support and root for him. You can’t always get what want But if you try sometimes You get what you need…
