uh other than rangers ballpark where he's only pitched only 8 innings, for his career he has a 6+ era at ys which is his highest at any ballpark - not a good stat for a pitcher making half his starts at ys.
many things about this make no sense. he walked away from a $21 mil option. was projected for a 3/63 contract but his value was so depressed that he took 2/$37 mil (with an option). this when salaries for starting pitchers have skyrocketed. huh? nobody wanted the guy. in 2019 cashman said he wasn't a difference maker. now he is?? desperation on both sides.
he does seem like a fighter with a chip on his shoulder and apparently has wanted to be a yankee so maybe he's ultra motivated and has a great season.
with the clock is ticking on cole & judge and only having soto for a season, still think we need another top pitcher.
We need Whitey Ford… Inger, he’s dead. Like for a while. So is Dr. Frankenstein. And I never learned as much about voodoo as I should have in Louisiana, so I’m no help.

We need Whitey Ford… I thought he had died! Do you think he can give them innings?

Nice stat for a pitcher making half his starts at Yankee Stadium. What is interesting about that graphic is that he has a higher ERA than all but two pitchers on the list.

He’s just not living anymore. What is it with Louisiana and voo-doo? I’m guessing it was a major port of entry for Haitians back in “the day”? Maybe it still is. When you do that voo-doo that you do…🤓

Stroman was leading the NL in ERA at the mid point of last season but then he fell apart. Probably a combination of injuries, ineffectiveness and his good luck in the first half reversing itself.

Another .500 pitcher. I guess with all the money they've spent on Judge, Cole and are going to need to resign Soto, Stroman is about the best they can afford.

Soto will have a huge year (remember what Judge did when he was looking for a contract extension), so we can expect the Yankees to have to shell out a bundle if they want to resign him in 2025.

One thing that we can cling to for hope: Badeball history is rife with pitchers who had .500 or lower win % with other teams and were .600 + with the Yankees… Let’s hope that’s the case here…

I mean a .500 pitcher with a career sub 4 era is one of those cases imo . He was on some mediocre and bad teams .

With the 1930-1946 Yankees, he posted a 231-124 recordwith a 3.47 ERA with 9 saves in 426 games. Red would miss 2 seasons due to WWII service time.
