We saw plenty of these Quad A guys at Scranton, taking AB's away from younger players that might have a major league future, although Quad A might even be too generous description for VanMeter.

Sadly the MLB has turned the AAA teams into basically taxi squads, real young talent is playing at the AA level.

Clipper Agreed. The Yankees are always worried about starting the free agency clock too early, until last season. Cashman is big on stockpiling minor league depth, with a coin in the fountain that someone will "unlock" hidden talent for those bus-weary, newly-Pinstriped journeymen hoping for the same thing. |

Nick Burdi isn't listed either. I missed that move.
Just my guess, since they officially signed him it seems like Burdi didn't have to be put on the Yankees 40 man roster. The Yankees are scheduled to sign Weaver today, so needless to say, there's going to be a trade today or another player that they designate for assignment.

Just my guess, since they officially signed him it seems like Burdi didn't have to be put on the Yankees 40 man roster. The Yankees are scheduled to sign Weaver today, so needless to say, there's going to be a trade today or another player that they designate for assignment.
I think Burdi was signed to a minor league contract. I’m not 100% on that… |

The Yankees have claimed utility player Diego Castillo off of waivers from the Mets, the team announced. In a corresponding move, infielder Jeter Downs was designated for assignment.
Meanwhile the Astros have signed Josh Hader to a 5 year deal.
