Just finished preparing a pot of Chicken Fricassee. How has Schmidt looked today? Other than Buzzer Boy, it looks like he's kept them in check. Sounds delicious rizz! Schmidt has looked good! He hasn't had a problem finishing off hitters like he did many times last year.

Change misses inside/low, 3-1 Cuttter up in the zone, crushable, but Verdugo misses up, pops to Tucker in right, and drops an f-bomb.
That's it for France at 94 pitches, 2 outs in the 6th.

I hope Verdugo hits for the Yankees this season and doesn't turn into another Joey Gallo that cannot play in New York.

Adding the cutter and the change-up will help him with lefties.

Fb up and in spins Berti around, 2-2 Slider near the outside corner spoiled. Holds up just in time on the slider outside 3-2 Was looking slider by location, but Scott fools him with a waist high FB outer 3rd, ꓘ, inning over.
Bottom 6, 3-1 Yanks. Let's see how far Boone is willing to let Schmidt go in his first start of the season.
Top of the order for the Astros: Alutve, Alvarez and Tucker.

Five innings of one rune ball for Clarke Schmidt! Boone didn't even leave the bench at 4 and 2/3rds and a single from Pena. It's a new year, everyone! Schmidt gets to go past the fifth in his first start and Stroman throws 101 pitches in his first start. Let's hope it stays that way. Enough of this ruin the bullpen before August. Plus, it should be part of a young pitcher's development to push him into the 6th inning and beyond.

Key inning. Schmidt goes back there against Altuve, Alvarez, Tucker. Two lefties. Let's see if Boone just has him pitch to Altuve. If not, then things have changed for Schmidt and Boone's confidence in him. Alvarez nearly took him out of the park last time, right after Buzzer Boy.

Misses badly with a cutter and a sinker, falls behind 2-0. Cutter in the middle, a meatball, and Altuve smashes it into the corner in left for a leadoff double. ruh-roh, get someone ready, Boonie

Schmidt fell behind then centered a cutter that didn't cut. Altuve made him pay with a double.
