FB inside corner, 0-1 on Walker. Swings over a change low, 0-2. Was that his first change this season? It might have been FB up and in jams Walker, popped to short right, Gleyber moves to cover second, has to turn and run the other way, Soto can't get there either, and it falls, he dekes Alexander back to 1st, then turns and throws to 2nd for the force, 2 down.
That FB to Walker was in a good location.

Good job backing up by Soto and getting the out at second.

In Nestor 's first start he was roughed up for (4-5 innings?) Until he got on a roll.

Atleast Cortes has settled in. Hes doing decent now. With our bats we can compete if he has a 4-5 era as a 4 or 5 guy in the rotation. Gonna be tough against Gallon tonight. Lets see what we can do...only bottom 3rd. Welcome to the board. Sign up and join us!

Volpe made that look easy.

Good job backing up by Soto and getting the out at second. You are right and I am wrong. Thought Torres recovered it but it was Soto on 2nd look. 1-1 on walker. Cutter in, popped into no man's land in short left center, but Volpe goes back and takes the cheap hit and cheap run away with a nifty over the shoulder grab, inning over. Nestor looking more like Nestor that inning with multiple popups, one of which fell. Top 4, 3-0 Yanks. 18 pitches in the 3rd, 55 through 3 for Nestor. Rizzo, Stanton and Verdugo for the Yanks in the 4th.

At some point, the Yanks are going to have to give Wells most of the starts, and get Stanton out of the lineup against righties. You want both Trevino and Wells in the lineup???? One being a dh? Don't we want the backup catcher to provide backup? Might need to get Grisham in the lineup in center vs. righties, with Judge sliding to RF and Soto the DH Or give Judge a half day off as the DH.

Rizzo takes a FB down and in, then a curve low, 2- FB inside corner, Rizzo turns on it and hits it very high and very foul to right. Curve on the corner low/away, Rizzo jackknifes as he looks it into the mitt, 2-2 Curve low away, Rizzo spoils with his "protect" swing. Low curve inside golfed foul, still 2-2 Gets a mistake, the change hung waist high, 3 inches outside, he lines it to left, but Gurriel got the jump and made the catch as he slid down, 1 out.

Dang good at bat by Rizzo but was spoiled by a nice play on a liner to left fielder.

Slider away, popped foul near the D'backs dugout. FB in a crushable spot not crushed, fouled off. That's 92 almost middle middle, Giancarlo. Bounced curve, 1-2. Lay off the bad breaking balls, Coney? Like the slider about 10 inches outside that he misses looking like a rusty gate? K, 2 down. Verdugo checks on the 1st pitch, tapped to Walker, flips to Gallen, inning over.
Easy 13 pitch 1-2-3 for Gallen, 65 through 4. Bottom 4, 3-0 D'backs. Yanks haven't scored off Gallen in 10 innings now. 7-8-9 for the D'backs, Barossa, McCarthy, Perdomo.

I'm afraid this is what Stanton is. He hasn't made enough changes to his swing or his approach. I'd prefer to have a kid like Pereira up here, where at least he has a chance to improve and acclimate to MLB pitching.

In Nestor 's first start he was roughed up for (4-5 innings?) Until he got on a roll. Roughed up in the 1st, gave up a leadoff HR to Meyers in the 2nd, then shut out the Astros for 4 innings. Looks like a virtual replay tonight so far.

Cutter outside, then a cutter for a strike at the top, 1-1 on Barrosa. FB up and in, Barossa turns and hammers it down 3rd, but Cabrera, dives to his backhand to grab, gets up and throws a strike, 1 down.
