When Dominquez returns sometime mid-season, someone will get less playing time. Likely permanent fixture be it Judge, Soto, and Verdugo ( unless someone has a stint on IL) with Stanton and Dominquez looking for play time. Obviously don't want a talented young switch hitter riding the pine as Stanton has the DH role (unless he goes on a major slump). What to do would be an interesting scenario. For sure place holder Grisham will be heading toward minor league if he still have options.

My guess is that when Jasson comes back they would move him to plug some other hole, since he does have value for his glove. I never thought such a thing possible, but he seems to be a poor man's Harrison Bader. Of course injuries, which are always highly likely, could change the whole outlook. And whatever the breaking point is with Stanton.

The only locks for playing time should be Judge & Soto. Verdugo should be a platoon player since he struggles with lefties. Stanton looks cooked and can't hit anyone. They might also give Dominquez an extended run at Scranton to hit timing back or that's the excuse they could use.

I would not be surprised if the Yankees used at least one of their extra outfielders as a trade chip. We saw what the Yankees paid to get an elite center fielder at the deadline a couple of years ago...maybe Grisham can fetch a quality return ?

Unfortunately it's usually through injury. However, IF things stay the way they are I just feel like Stanton needs to sit. It sucks so bad that he still has FOUR years left on his contract AFTER this season. He will get his 15-25 +/- HR's per year on lucky guess swings but he seems to have lost the ability to read and react to pitches and I just don't know what the Yankees are going to do with him. My guess is that soon he will have a mysterious injury so at least the insurance can pay his paycheck and we won't hear much from him the last few years much like Jocoby. If Jason D is what he was in a small sample size last season the team is much better with him in the lineup and using that to get the others rest. Plus there is this Spencer Jones guy that probably should already be in the majors. Just sucks that Stanton's contract is sitting there eating payroll and may affect the Yank's ability to sign Soto long term. This team is GREAT though. It's still early but once Cole comes back ship Nestor to the bullpen that he will make deeper along with Tommy K when he comes back. I know this is all "best-case scenario" but if it all plays out this well and Rodon, Stroman, Schmidt and Gil pitch this way with G Cole on his game then I am saying Blake who? Plus this would probably be the best rotation in the game.

He can still crush a hanging slider a long way, but he can't touch anything with any kind of movement. Eventually they will have to consider biting the bullet, consider him sunk cost and release him.

I know it’s a typo, but “suck cost” is appropriate. When Dominguez returns, Stanton HAS to go. Then Judge and Soto can grab some DH tome and the logjam is over! …

The team is more athletic and versatile without him. And, they could employ their beloved load management more effectively.

I would think that Dominquez would at least have to prove himself before the Yankees fully commit to him as a starter. Last season was a small sample size.

That might get you a luxury suite for the home games but yuou need a lot more than that if you plan on buying the Yankees !!! www.forbes.com/teams/new-york-yankees/?sh=7f6a39f44e6e

stanton was a remarkably dumb decision as it turned out. Like giving andujar a 5 year contract because he had a great start would have been.
