2-2 low curve away, chopped past the mound, Cabrera cuts across, tries to barehand, fumbles it, infield hit.

Purdue has made the men's final game once before, in 1969, but lost to the Wooden machine UCLA Bruins, 95-72, winning their 3rd of five straight NCAA Men's Backetball titles. Lew Alcindor (later Kareen Abdul-Jabbar) won his 3rd in a row.

Schmidt escapes the jam allowing only 1 run as big boy Vogelbach flies out to Judge. I'll take it.

Springer walked, putting runners at 1st and 2nd. Guererro popped one to Cabrera, Infield fly rule. Bichette lines a single in front of Soto, loading the bases. Turner lines one to left, Verdugo is there, Kiermeier tags and scores, 6-1 Yanks. Vogelbach pops an 0-1 slider on the corner away to Judge in center for the 3rd out.
Schmidt got away lucky that inning.
Bottom 3, 6-1 Yanks. 20 pitches for Schmidt in the 3rd, and 57 through 3. It's 50-50 he'll make it through 5 and qualify for the W, assuming he holds the lead.
