Volpe swings at the 1st pitch, grounds it to Mead, he flips to Caballero, who has to come a long way from playing in the hole to catch for the force and Volpe is too fast for his off balance throw to get doubled off.
1st and 3rd, 2 out for Soto.

Gil misses low with a FB and a slider, then gets a FB at 97.5 just above middle and as befits a top hitting prospect, he didn't miss, hammering a grounder down 3rd that beats Cabrera with a wicked hard hop, Verdugo gets to it as fast as he can but Caballero easily beats his throw into 2nd for a leadoff double
