Sears probably comes out after facing Soto. Then again maybe not. No reason to pull him vs. Judge, who hasn't come close to hitting him in two at bats. FB just outside middle, and again, Judge is late and under, pops to short right, inning over. There is something seriously wrong, mechanically, with Judge right now. He's missing meatballs late and under consistently.

11 pitch 1-2-3 for Sears against Volpe Soto Judge, and 91 through 6.
Top 7, 0-0. Toro, Gelof and Noda for the A's.

Last year's offense, or lack of it seems to be returning. This team can't seem to get half or more of the lineup going at the same time.

Flies open and the 1st pitch curve hangs way up and outside. FB off the outside corner, gets the bad call, 1-1 FB away, driven to the corner in right, Soto doesn't see it immediately, gets a late break, but gets there in time, 1 out.

Change outside 4-5 inches, taken for a strike 1. Another brutal call goes Rodon's way. Cutter outside corner, swung on and misses, 0-2 FB outside, 1-2 FB at the top at 97, swung on and missed, K. 1 down
Rodon emptying the tank in the 7th.

Nicely done Rodon. Now if only offense will deliver some run support.

Quick effective inning for Rodon.

Fb swung on and missed, 0-1 FB in the zone low/away, called strike 2 Fb low, 1-2 FB on the low outside corner, tapped to the right of the mound, Rodon fields and flips to Rizzo, inning over. Rodon aided big time by the awful K zone called by Wendlestedt, but takes advantage with 7 shutout innings, 1 hit, 2 BB and 4 K.
Bottom 7, 0-0. Stanton, Rizzo and Torres for the Yanks in the 7th.

11 pitch 1-2-3 for Rodon in the 7th, and as he threw 97 multiple times, emptying the tank, he's likely done for today.

9 hits yesterday, 5 of which were by two players.. 3 hits today after 6 innings... First two games with the Rays, 5 hits and 4 hits !!!! I would never have guessed this team would be hitting so poorly..

Back-to-back beauties by Nestor and Rodon. Locusts are currently descending on the Bronx...

Lucas Erceg comes in for the A's. Like most of their relievers, he's off to a good start this season: 7 2/3 innings, 7 hits, 2 earned runs, a 2.35 ERA, 2 BB, 9 K and 0 HR allowed. He's 0-1 on the season. FB 98-100 half the time, Change at 91 1/3 of the time, Slider at 87 the rest of the time
Stanton gets a 1-1 slider down and in, popped to center, 1 down.
