Another slider with very sharp drop fools Soto, he swings over it as it dives below the knees, would've been ball 4, but was "in the K zone" a long way towards home.
Inning over, top 3, 4-2 Yanks.
19 pitches for Blackburn in the 2nd and he's even with Stroman, 48 pitches total through 2.
3-4-5 for the A's; Rooker, Brown and Nevin.
1st period over, Rangers lead 2-1, outshot the Caps 13-7 as well.

Volpe starts and stops and the FB is well high 3-2 Well, he's going on this pitch for sure. Soto makes it immaterial. Dang. He better not slump or we’ll never score another run until he awakens… |

Krieder got a cross-check penalty 40 seconds into the PP to negate the advantage, but both penalties over now.

Chases a sinker diving inside and low for strike 3. 1 down.

Sinker outside to Brown.
Slurve starts middle, breaks sharp to the inside corner, and Brown is fooled, pops it behind the mound, Cabrera calls everyone off and backs up a step or two, catches, 2 down.

Stroman is such a craftsman. So many swings at borderline pitches and even pitches that aren’t even close to the plate… Not the most movement you’ll see, but just enough to mess with hitters…

Gets a sinker on the outer half, drives it through the wide open right side (Torres was playing close to 2nd), 2 out single.

One thing the Rays have always been good at is defensive positioning. If you're going to pitch a righty hitter to the outside, Torres should not be so far up the middle.

Gets ahead of Gelof 0-2 on a cutter and sinker, then he chases a terrible slider straight out of Stanton's playbook when he's going bad, way out of the zone low/away for the K. Inning over.
3 pitch K holds the inning to 12 pitches and now 60 through 3 for Stroman. Two more like that and he might make it through 6 after all.
Bottom 3, 4-2 Yanks. Judge, Stanton and Rizzo due in.

Sox broke the ice with a run in the 7th, but the Guardians struck back with 2 in their half and lead 2-1.
Tigers lead the Rays 1-0 in 5th in Tampa.
Jays Royals are 0-0 bottom 1st in KC.

Judge fouls off a waist high FB away, then a cutter thigh high outside corner, 0-2
Judge gets a slider low and checks in time, 1-2
Another slider well low, taken, 2-2
FB on the outside corner letter high, and Judge almost gets there, pops to Butler in right. Better than fouling it off to the right side by a little, I guess.
