It was. Only Torres was crazy enough to try to make that play, and among 2nd baseman, very few coould've pulled it off. Brilliant play, though. As I frequently say, Torres giveth and Torres taketh away. 0-1 slider in the middle, popped to Wiemer in left, 2 down. Wonderful, but unneeded up by 10 runs. It’s when he throws that ball away when we’re up by two that he irritates me… True enough. |

He actually passed in December after a long bout fighting Leukemia. We played ball together and he was one of those guys who just loved baseball and there were strong bonds between many of us who played together 30 years ago. We still got together over beers and to relive our "glory days". His kids showed a slide show with Springsteen's "Glory Days" playing......it was perfect. |
