More standings:
In the AL West, The Mariners have had a good week, winning 4 of 5, and moving into 1st, 3 games over .500. The defending champ Rangers continue to tread water, are still at .500 and are 1 1/2 back of the Mariners. The A's went 3-4 this week despite splitting with the Yankees , and even losing a game to .500, they've moved into 3rd at 6 games under, 3 behind Texas and 4 1/2 behind Seattle. The Angels continue to absolutely bury the greatness of Mike Trout, who's off to another great season. They've lost 8 of 9 now, are 7 games under, 1/2 game behind the A's, 3 1/2 back of the Rangers and 5 games out of 1st.. The Astros finally won last night after losing 5 in a row, and have lost 8 out of 10. They have last place all to themselves, are 11 games under, 2 back of Anaheim, 2 1/2 back of the A's, 5 1/2 back of Texas and 7 games out of 1st. Kinda makes the Yanks opening series 4 game sweep in Houston seem a lot less impressive than we thought at the time, hunh? Baseball Reference has a rudimentary ranking system for the teams of MLB called Simple Rating System, or SRS for short. It measures not just the record, but the record of the teams a team defeated and the teams they lost to. The main reason there are 5 teams in the AL and 5 more in the NL ranked above the Yanks, despite the Yanks being tied for the 3rd best record in MLB is that 5 of the wins came against the Astros, who are ranked 25th in MLB.

Slider in the middle maybe brushes the bottom of the zone, 0-1 on Stanton. 10-15% on Gameday. Swings through a FB a bit above the waist, inner 3rd, 0-2 And the inevitable chasing of the slider going low and away for the 3 pitch K, 1 down.

FB well off the plate away called a strike on Rizzo, he argues, but nothing changes. Cutter up and in hit hard to right center, Chourio takes a bad route, going across, tries to get back late, bounces and hits the wall, Rizzo to 2nd with an easy double.

FB in the zone up and in, 0-1 on Torres Slider backs up high, 1-1 Slider low and outside, Torres recognizes late but checks in time, 2-1 Cutter above the zone, chased and fouled off 2-2. Pitches backwards, and throws a FB for the low outside corner, Torres guesses slider by count and location, and is frozen for the >|, 2 down.

FB inner 3rd, waist high, 0-1 on Cabrera Change tails outside about letter high, swung on and fouled off. Yanks need to do damage on Myers early and often. Takes a cutter on the back door for the ꓘ, inning over. Myers K's the side, using 13 pitches and is at 29 through 2.
Bottom 2, 1-0 Yanks. Sanchez, Perkins and Turang for the Brewers

Still more standings:
In the NL East, as expected, the Braves playing very well. Their 18-7 record is the best in MLB. The Phillies remained hot, winning five of seven, and are right on the Braves' heels, just 1 1/2 back at 8 over .500. The Mets' hot streak faded. they've lost 4 of 5 this week, are back at .500 in 3rd place. They're now 4 behind the Phils and 5 1/2 back of the Braves. The Nationals keep playing nearly .500 baseball despite the team's limitations. They're still 2 under .500, 1 back of the Mets, 5 behind the Phils and 6 1/2 out of first. The Marlins lost yet ANOTHER key starting pitcher to injury this week, and their top 4 starters are now on the IL together. They've lost 5 in a row, and at 6-22 just 1/2 game ahead of the White Sox for the worst record in MLB. They're already 7 games out of FOURTH, 8 out of 3rd, 12 out of 2nd, and 13 1/2 out of 1st.

Sanchez gets a meatball sinker above middle middle, and just misses under, fouling it back. Arrgggg Splitter backs up and in, and hits him on the left forearm/wrist. Man on 1st, nobody out for Perkins.

Not shown in this clip, but when the camera was on Austin Wells he looked like a little kid watching his first long home run ever…

Sinker into the upper part of the zone, outer 3rd, 0-1 Backdoor slider hangs outside, 1-1 on Perkins Slider bounced, 2-1 Stroman struggling with command here. Left that sinker over the middle knee high, hammered back through the box, gets into center for a single, Sanchez to 2nd with nobody out. If he can't straighten out his command problems soon, he'll find himself down several runs.
