Backdoor slider again hangs outside That sinker misses by an inch or two away, but Stroman gets a break on the call, 1-1 on Turang. Squares to bunt a splitter that lands high in the zone away, fouls it off, 1-2 Great backhand stab on a back leg slider that bounced, saved a wild pitch, 2-2 Sinker away waist high, Turang chops it right to Cabrera near 3rd, he steps on the bag, fires to first for a huge 5-5-3 DP. Man on 2nd, two down for Ortiz

Sinker 3 inches outside called strike 1 anyway, Stroman gets another favorable call. This ump's K zone is quite large Slider low/away, 1-1 on Ortiz. Same sinker as the first pitch fouled off. 1-2. Slider too far out of the zone to get a chase, 2-2 Sinker about 4-5 inches outside, the call on the 1st pitch forces a chase and spoil. He's not going to chase a slider BOTH low and away. He might chase one that's outside but not low, 3-2

that will change whenever Embid has to take a rest. Knicks might be down by 15 by then. Didn't chase any of the three bad sliders well low/away, and walks.

I meant to mention earlier, Chourio is probably NOT getting the gold glove this year…what a bad play…

Hangs the slider just above middle, and Chourio makes solid contact, but is late, grounds it to Rizzo, who goes to a knee to make sure he blocks it, picks it up and beats Chourio to the bag for the 3rd out.
Stroman works out of the jam; 19 pitches and 35 through 2.
Top 3, 1-0 Yanks, Trevino, then back to the top for Volpe and Soto.
Knicks down by 7 with 6:40 left in the 3rd quarter.

Again, more standings:
In the NL Central, the Brewers have had a good week, going 4-2. They're in 1st, 8 games over .500. Despite the beating they took from the Sox yesterday and the injuries to Suzuki and Bellinger, they won 5 of 7, and are just 1/2 game back of the Brewers. The Reds went 4-3 this week, they're 3 games over, 2 behind the Cubs and 2 1/2 back of 1st and they still have a ton of guys on the IL The Pirates continue to play so-so ball, losing 4 of 7, and are down to .500 after their 11-2 start. They're 1 1/2 back of the Reds, 3 1/2 back of the Cubs and 5 games out of 1st, as they wait for the boost pitching uberprospect Paul Skenes will give them when they finally call him up after he can no long achieve "Super Two" service time status. The Cards had a good week at 4-2, but barely gained any ground. They're now 1 game under, 1/2 game behind Pittsburgh, 2 behind Cincy, 4 behind the Cubs and 4 1/2 out of 1st.

Trevino takes a strike. Rolls over on a cutter to Ortiz, who throws him out, 1 down.

One of these days this old man will have passed on to the next realm, you won’t have to work anymore and you’ll be an old fart watching every game.. 🤓 You got a long way to go inger! Well, we have a long history and the games are best when you’re here, my friend. I’m remembering s we hen I joined PP, and you were already there and a moderator. I used to use you as my source of all information, and you (and Maize) were both incredibly inviting and helpful. Gosh, Maize was still baby… Here’s to the good old days! 🍻…

Volpe... Cutter at him freezes him, bends over the inside corner, 0-1 Cutter up and in, he goes for it, but again the big swing makes him miss late and under, fouls it off. Checks on the cutter 4-5 inches above the zone inner 3rd, 1-2 FB overthrown way high at 94, taken I would think a slider outside here, but I could be wrong... Nope, just a cutter in the middle and knee high, rolled over to Adames, who throws him out, 2 down. Would like to see Soto get the measure of him here.

We’re not exactly solving Myers at this point…

Soto... Slider low, ball 1 Cutter away, and the break fools Soto just enough to keep it off the center of the barrel, he tops it softly to Adames, who charges, gloves and fires a strike to 1st to beat the hustling Soto by a step, inning over.
Bottom 3, 1-0 Yanks. 9 pitch 1-2-3 for Myers and 35 through 3.
Top of the order for the Brewers, Frelick, Contreras and Adames. Knicks have cut the lead to 3 with 3:30 left in the quarter.

Frelick... Cutter into the top outside3 quadrant, 0-1 Sinker right down the middle belted to deepest right center, the ball hits the top of the wall, and the angle makes it carom past Judge for an easy triple for Frelick

Man on 3rd, nobody out. Contreras pops the 1st pitch to short right, Torres makes a good over the should catch, then wheels and fires back in a hurry, and with nobody out, Frelick holds, 1 down.
