McKinstry is 1-1 vs. Holmes a double. Takes a strike, then a ball, then he chases a sinker well out of the zone low/away, 1-2 And backs it up with a waist high sinker diving just off the plate outside, chased and missed, K, game over. Yanks win, 5-3! Great movement on the last two sinkers for the K.

I am curious if there is anyone else in MLB that runs slower than Stanton? Maybe Bruce Bochy?

The Yankees win and Stanton still is running to 1B.

I am curious if there is anyone else in MLB that runs slower than Stanton? Maybe Bruce Bochy? Or Suzyn Waldman. But only in heels.

Stanton runs like Steve Austin. Before Dr. Rudy Wells performed the surgery.

Yanks win 5-3, get back to a season high 9 games over .500 at 22-13, 4th time they've gotten to 9 over. Yanks gain a half game on the East for a moment, and are 1/2 game behind the O's, 3 up on the Sox, and six up on the Rays and Jays, pending tonight's games. Twins lead the Sox 2-1 in the 6th in Minnesota, not Fenway as I originally thought. Twins ace Pablo Lopez has allowed just 1 run on 5 hits with 8 K's through 6 innings.
Jays will start their game against the Nats in about 20 minutes. O's-Reds set to go in 3 hours. Mets in Tampa to play the Rays at about 7:10 tonight.

3rd star of the game: Clay Holmes for another fairly dominant closeout. 2nd star: Jeff Weaver with 2 1/3 innings of excellent relief, bailing out Ferguson's jam in the 6th. 1st star of the game: Rizzo with the big 3 run HR, breaking the game open, and giving them a big enough lead so that Schmidt's usual erratic faltering couldn't cough it all back to the Tigers.

Game over, Yankees win the series. Good point, lauren. Yanks bounce back from the poor showing against the O's in Baltimore to immediately take two from the Tigers and win another series. Yanks are now 10-5 at home and 12-8 on the road. They're 9-3 in 1-run games, 5-5 in two run games, and 6-2 in blowouts.

Yanks go for the sweep in the series finale tomorrow at 1:37 pm on YES, weather permitting (NWS says chance of showers about 50% at game time, rising to 70% by 4-5 pm. The showers should be light so they might play through. NWS projects 6/100th of an inch during the 1L30-4:30 timeframe but they'll had had very little rain before that, so the field should be in decent shape before that).
Tigers ace hard throwing lefty Tarik Skubal, who also has a wipeout changeup, will pitch for the Yanks. He's 4-0 with a 1.72 ERA (6th in the AL) Nestor Cortes for the Yanks, trying bounce back after two straight losses.

I am curious if there is anyone else in MLB that runs slower than Stanton? Yes. According to Statcast there are many, mostly catchers. Trevino is one of them. Hard to imagineā¦
