Hamilton comes in to face Bregman with 2 outs, nobody on, and the Yanks with a 5 run lead. Normally, you'd see a cartoon bubble filled with "????" over my head on this move, but actually, this is not a bad idea. Hamilton has not pitched well lately, so it's a good idea to bring him in for a low leverage situation to try to work out his mechanics and release point. If he gets into serious trouble, you still have Holmes behind him on 3 days' rest.

Pena has nine hits against the Yankees in six games. This is his second three-hit game against them this season.

FB inside, 1-0 on Bregman Sinker near middle, 1-1 Slider backs way up and in and Hamilton is still way off, 2-1 almost hit Bregman who spun out of there. Yanks the slider way outside, 3-1 Sinker with good ride up in the zone, Bregman misses it, pops to Torres in short center, inning over.
Bottom 8, 8-3 Yanks.
Cabrera, Volpe and Soto for the Yanks.

We get the honor of seeing Mr. Soto bat once more, and pretty likely Judge again…

Volpe up. Slider at the top, 0-1 Slider thigh high outside corner, swinging bunt, soft chopper to the left of the mound. Scott right on it, throws out Volpe as Cabrera goes to 2nd with 1 down for Soto.

Change outside ball 1. Slider aimed for the backdoor gets too much of the plate, lined to center for a RBI single, 5 RBI for Soto, Yanks lead 9-3. He's been a runaway train so far this year, no stops.

Judge takes a ball, then a slider inner half, and Judge pops it toward the corner to Tucker, gets over for the easy catch near the line, 2 down.

Verdugo takes a ball outside, then a change below the waist near middle, he rolls over on it to Altuve to end the inning.
Top 9, 9-3 Yanks.
Hamilton tries to close it out in the 9th, I think. He'll face the bottom of the Astros order, Diaz, Dubon and Meyers, who are 4 for 8 with a HBP tonight so far.

We get the honor of seeing Mr. Soto bat once more, and pretty likely Judge again… And an honor it was. He’s a combination of Tony Gwynn, Ted Williams, and Hank Aaron all rolled into one package… there’s no one that I’m aware of that had so many hit tools, plus his power…
