I hope we don’t trade for Manny. Even more, I don’t care to watch him hitting .237 with 18 HR for $37.5M seven years from now while still playing shortstop to soothe his ego...So I hope we don’t sign him to a lame-ass FA contract...

Utah... These are the numbers that numbers is talking about from River Ave Blues and I think the numbers actually MATCH the eye test...
"The individual components of UZR say Andujar’s arm and ability to avoid errors are basically league average, which matches the eye test, I think. The range component is far below average, however. Inside Edge data says Andujar makes basically nothing but routine plays. Here is the breakdown:
Routine (90-100%): 96.9% Likely (60-90%): 62.5% Even (40-60%): 0.0% Unlikely (10-40%): 0.0% Remote (1-10%): 0.0% Impossible (0%): 0.0%"
I also want to add as far as Andujars walk percentage... His BB% is on par with Canos BB% during his first two seasons. Cano improved so I have hope that Andujar could improve as well. Not saying Andujar will ever put up OBP similar to Cano (people on RAB seemed to think that's what I meant) . Cano OBP was driven by some seasons where he hit like 330+ so it was batting average driven and I don't see Andujar ever hitting for that high of a BA

Let's be serious, if Cashman is willing to include Andujar in trades, there would be plenty of takers. Without a doubt!!!

That makes two of us... Although I'm 7 years he'll be liklikee what? 33? But I concur.. I don't want the kid in pinstripes. The days of big free agent contracts are hopefully over. Unless it's signing our own player to a team friendly contract.

You’re kidding right? You’re worried about 7 yrs from now? Would it bother you to see him hit .300 40 950 for the first 5 or 6? Btw, at 33 he’s not hitting 230. As far as short, we had a statue at SS for yrs so I’m used to it

Trade Andujar AND German for a couple months of Manny?? Hell no. German can be in our rotation for years and Andujar could be our 3rd bagger for the foreseeable future. I'd trade the pair for a top of rotation starter... That's about it. Better yet if that starter was deGrom

You'd just be creating more holes to fill next off season when you need starting rotation depth. Sure you have Drury to play 3rd next season... But losing German would hurt... Hell... You need German for depth THIS season.
Imagine we traded Judge and Severino for Quintana like a LOT! of people wanted to do few years ago????
And as far as signing Machado long term... I can see him dropping off a cliff at an early age due to TWO surgically repaired knees... Especially with his diminished range making him having to dive for way too many balls... Tearing up those knees more... We know power comes from the lower half... I imagine with two surgically repaired knees his lower half will give out faster than normal aging curve

Here's one issue I see with trading Andujar for a front line starter, or in a Machado package. You see, there is this secret site called Fangraphs. Not every one knows about it, and it rates Andujar as a poor third baseman. So, we can dump him off on a GM somewhere. A GM that doesn't know about Fangraphs and all the charts that we all get to see...
Oh wait. You mean this is NOT a secret? Uh-oh...You see where this is going right???
By the way, Andujar gets a 70-rated arm, which is by no means average...That's a freaking bazooka...

Andujar is just below average in getting to balls that are hard to get to. He makes all the plays that are average. Kinda how I expect them to rate Jeter if that rating system existed then. I don't see his defense hurting us through the course of a season I mean look how many titles we won with Jeter and SS is more important defense position so what if you won't see Andujar on a defensive highlight reel
PLUS we have Didi at SS which helps. Oh and Machado is rated below average defensive SS

I'm with you, monkey4...I've been cool on both of those players from the beginning. I really just don't care for either of them. Oh, if the Yankees did get them, I'd teach myself to root for them, just like I rooted for A-Rod...Didn't like him, but still rooted for him...It's more fun when you have likable players that are producing...and playing as a team rather than leaning on one guy to do everything... My only exception to "Don't trade the kids" would be for a knock out starter, like JdG. Pitchers are so hard to find and develop, and their shelf is unpredictable and generally short, so if the window of contention is open, I say go for it. All that being said, the Mets won't trade with the Yankees, so I'd rather they conserve their resources and go after JA Happ.
