What was the point of the one trade they made for a single A pitcher?

I know grineke and Aaron Sanchez aren't what they used to be but the Yankees semi broken rotation is going to have a hard time competing with that.

What was the point of the one trade they made for a single A pitcher? Great question. Why Cashman refuses to realize the problems we face is another. He has guys like Andujar we don't even have a place for on the team and he did zero.
This pretty much summed up what occurred.
“We’ve entered this process and the deadline with a pretty good feel of what we’d like to do, what we’re willing to pay for it and also having the built-in discipline of walking away if we don’t find the right matches under those circumstances,’’
He thinks the pitching problems are temporary I guess or he thinks that winning the division not a possible WS is all that really matters. Our starters are simply not good enough to win the play offs IMHO.
Obviously Cashman disagrees and he is a heck of lot smarter than I which is encouraging.

All I am reading about are deals the Yankees turned down that they should have turned down, like this nonsense.

Andujar is injured and his recovery remains uncertain. So if he has value right now it isn’t his normal value. You would have liked to see him sold for pennies on the dollar, just to see something happen?

I don't believe Cashman ever made an offer of an elite player. I guess we will find out. Hard to believe teams would trade with Houston but not us.

What was the point of the one trade they made for a single A pitcher? Joe Harvey pissed off someone... It's probably best for him, he'll have a better chance of pitching in the big leagues.

It will be interesting to find out what Cahman has to say about the trade deadline especially after the Houston trade.
The mets chose not to trade away two players who are likely to leave in free agency. That makes zero sense to me. They are below .500. They are not going to make the play offs. Even SF not trading makes limited sense and they have some chance.

"There are moments, though, when discipline needs a holiday. At this trade deadline, measured action is not going to net the Yankees the starter they crave. Supply is low, demand is high. If the Yankees hold to a logic to pay $1 in return for $1 worth of a starter, they are not going to upgrade a staff that needs impact. Even $1.10 might not get it done. So practicality is needed. Or call it pragmatism. It is a step away from theory, from process." To show I am not the only heretic in regards to Cashman. Not that it matters. nypost.com/2019/07/30/yankees-must-take-trade-risk-cashman-loathes-the-most/

I had no problem with the Yankees standing pat until the Greinke trade. Now I wish we did something. I didn't like a lot of pitchers we were rumored to be after but I did like Greinke. There was no mention of him at all with us. I read somewhere that we didn't want to take on his remaining salary. Just wish we would just go for it like the Astros. I would've given up Florial, Schmidt, Loasiga, and Abreu for Greinke. Other than Schmidt, not real high on them.
Edit: Forgot about Frazier. Would've traded him too even though I really like him. Wouldn't trade Deivi Garcia despite recent struggles. Not sure about Andujar.

I think bauer would have been worth it as well. Apparently he was their number 1 goal which makes what happened puzzling. It does not seem like the Reds gave up the moon to get him.
Again I think this reflects Cashman's reluctance to trade elite players during the regular season. He likes cheap deals where we give up nothing and realistically that is not going to work.
