Kaybli, I think those are current unsigned free agents. Oh OK.

I am amazed Colon is still alive. I have this theory that he actually is El Duque.

Doug fister and Jaime Garcia retired in the offseason I'm sure they could be coaxed back for the right amount but again those aren't upgrades either.

This sums up why in the end there were no serious efforts to get a pitcher. "We didn’t get close to anything, but we certainly knocked on all doors,’’ Cashman said. “But the fallback has always been we know we have a good club already.’’ Cashman referenced the anticipated September returns of All-Star pitchers Luis Severino and Dellin Betances in September, though multiple physical setbacks have kept them sidelined all season." Its a huge gamble to assume they will come back after there have been claims for months they would not. Ignoring that one starter is not enough to beat LA or Houston. www.northjersey.com/story/sports/mlb/yankees/2019/07/31/ny-yankees-stand-pat-mlb-trade-deadline-fail-bolster-rotation/1876795001/

Frazier seemed happy he wasn't being traded:

Why he is delighted given the difficulty he faces getting back on the team is beyond me. He is now behind a lot of people in the depth chart.

Frazier seemed happy he wasn't being traded:
Clint’s agent might want to suggest he think about some coaching on PR and brand. Dignity apparently does not come naturally to Clint.

Good to remember. Also the Tigers had Verlander, Scherzer and Price. And the Nats had Scherzer, Strasburg and Gio. Sure, adding Greinke makes Houston better, but it's no free pass to the World Series. Greinke hasn't been all that great against the Yankees for his career. And you only have to go back to yesterday to find a game he started that the Yankees won.

I think the point is 1)our pitchers are not just not great, they are awful by standards of the play offs. And 2) cashman did nothing to improve and Houston did. His whole purpose has been to preserve prospects
