Yanks blow the 3 run lead and lose 5-4, falling back to 17 games over .500 at 33-16. The good news is that the Cards got 4 in the 4th and lead the O's behind their ace, 5-0. But even if the O's don't rally from behind, as they can do, that just means the Yanks blew a chance to put the O's 3 games back.
Jays and Red Sox will pick up a game on the Yanks.
Assuming the Cards hold, not a sure bet, the Yanks will enter play tomorrow 2 ahead of the O's, the Rays by 8, the Sox by 8 1/2 and the Jays by 10 1/2.

Holmes: .02 IP / 4H / 2BB / 4 ER That's true, but none of the first three were harder than 80 mph. It wasn't an easy play, but if Torres makes that throw, the game ends as a 4-2 win on the deep flyout by Canzone. Fallacy of the pre-determined outcome of course. "It wasn't an easy play...Fallacy of the pre-determined outcome..."

What a sad way to lose a game. A big time fluke but stuff like this happens during the season to every team.

Even worse, Yanks don't have Holmes tomorrow because he's pitched back to back days, and 3 out of 4, and now have to worry if this blown save starts one of his crisis of confidence slumps that he goes through once or twice a year.
Game 2 is tomorrow at 7:07 on YES, Bryan Woo vs. Clarke Schmidt.
OK, going to check notifications now.

I was hoping for 3 of 4 this series, but gonna be tough now with the Castillo game as the last one, but one game at a time. Not like the Seattle offense was killing the ball.

This time he didn't, and it turned the game.

Yankees had been playing way, way over their heads. Mariners are not the White Sox. Yankees are getting swept in this series. Mariners are the better team despite the comparative records to this point. Yankees will be coming back to earth with a resounding thus after this game. Count on it.

No way to show Seattle is the better team off this one win. Yanks Pythagorean record 33-15 coming in same as their actual record. Run differential of +69. M's came in with Pythagorean record of 24-23, run differential of +1. SRS rating system at Baseball Reference had Yanks at +1.5 tied for best in the AL, M's at +0.2, 8th best in the league. Can't we get a better class of trolling on this board than this?

If anything, he should've held onto the ball, which MIGHT not have changed the outcome IF he did. OK, having looked at the replay three times now, stop and go, Fraley beats the play anyway, so you're right about that. When I looked at it live, I thought the throw beats Raley if it's on target, but that's not true. Re-creating the inning without the throwing error shows that it therefore didn't change anything. Again, fallacy of the predetermined outcome. But the M's get the hit and walk that followed, scoring the 3rd run, and the sac fly ties it up, and the following single gives them the lead. That does absolve Torres in this case.

Thats some big talk for a team that is near FORTY GAMES under .500 in the last 22 years against the Yankees and is 4 whole games over .500 and only won this one based on some bad Yankee mistakes.

I believe this is the first troll from another team in this board's history. Surely you can do better than this.

Rule I always have for baseball is once you get more than 5 games in a row the law of averages usually catches up to you.
