6 base runners, 6 runs. That's nice to see.

Perez... Sinker on the outside corner waist high, 0-1 Slider just outside waist high, chased and fouled off 0-2 Slider thigh high, 8-10 inches outside, 1-2 Sinker well low and away, 2-2 Slider LOOKS like it's headed near the corner away, Perez chases it and barely fouls it a foot off the plate. Splitter outside and about 4 inches low, fouled. Sinker down and in ties him up, and his bloope to short right...Rizzo goes back, Rizzo lunges for the over the shoulder catch in the bottom of the mitt, stumbles, slams his knees hard on the turf, but holds on. Great catch, best play we've seen from Rizzo in a while.

He had some power! Low average Kevin Maas type. I had an irrational hatred for Balboni when I was a yoot and he played for the Royals. I think it was because he always looked like an asshole on his baseball cards. I remember being pissed when the Yankees signed him in the early 90's. Because of old Magazines like Street and Smiths I couldn’t wait for him to hit the majors and play third for us. I was so disappointed when we dealt him away…

Melendez... Slider in the middle fouled off. Cutter high over the outer half, 1-1 Slider very low on the inner half, 2-1 Cutter inside middle, hit hard to first, Rizzo has to reach to his right for the hard hop, but gloves it, flips to Stroman, 2 down.

Turned into one of those Ron Kittle two outcome guys once he reached the bigs, though.

6 base runners, 6 runs. That's nice to see. Though I’d prefer 14 base runners, 14 runs… I’ll take it…

Velazquez... Sinker low and away, 1-0 Slider even lower and awayer, 2-0 Hanging slider right down the middle, but he's early and tops it to Cabrera, who fields, bounces the throw to Rizzo, who makes a nifty backhanded swipe-scoop to end the inning. Big-time defensive inning for Rizzo, three different plays, all difficult in one way or another.
Top 5, 6-0 Yanks. 14 pitch 1-2-3 for Stroman, 57 through 4.
Soto, Judge and Verdugo for the Yanks in the 5th.

I was so disappointed when we dealt him away… I have the 1981 Yearbook that has Balboni as an "On the Way Up" player. It was one of the few ways back then we could learn about players on the farm and of course the information was a year outdated already. I just opened up that yearbook ... oh the memories, and things you don't see today like full page cigarette ads.
