Volpe comes through to tie it up on fielder's choice. Love how this team battles.

Volpe shows bunt, pulls it back, takes a sinker down and in. Schreiber looking for a DP grounder, no DUH there. Sinker inside trying to tie him up, taken, 2-0 Schreiber fakes a throw to 1st, but if he stepped off, it's not a balk. His step off is part of his pickoff motion, should be a balk to tie it up, but won't be called. What say you, nw? Watching in real time, I had a balk. When they slowed it down, it seemed that his step back with the pivot foot started before the non-pivot foot moved. I'm pretty sure I call it in real time, but I'm not 4 of the best guys in the world at umpiring who are at this game.

Sinker inside but not down, Volpe jammed, Grishamn running on the pitch, slow roller to the left side, Garcia cuts it off, no chance to go home or turn two, he takes the out at first, Jones scores to tie it, and Grisham to 2nd with 2 down. Yanks rally for 2 to tie it up!
Zerpa, the hard throwing lefty, coming in to face Soto with the go-ahead run at 2nd.

Soto faced Zerpa yesterday, got the only hit off him, a ground single through the left side.

Soto gets the Yankees in the lead and immediately says that he has a plane to catch, no need to extend the inning.

Slider hangs high, Soto takes a huge hack, nearly falling down as he fouls it back FB inner 3rd, pulled hard toward the 34 hole, gets past a diving Hampson (to his left) goes into right for a hit, no chance to get Grisham, so they cut it off and throw out Soto trying to stretch, and probably deliberately drawing the cutoff throw as well. Yanks take a 3-2 lead as the inning ends! Bottom 8, 3-2 Yanks. Top of the order: Garcia, Witt and Pasquantino, against...I dunno...Weaver...Tonkin?

Rizzo's 8th HR: 102.9 mph, 376 feet, 42(!)º launch angle, a HR in 29 of 30 parks.
