Other than the leadoff walk, Schmidt had a nice first inning. Cubs definitely wanting to see if he can throw strikes consistently. Patient at bats.

Takes a cutter at the knees, not called, Chisholm gets a break, 25% on Gameday. Takes a change low, 1-0 Takes a sinker on the outside corner, 1-1 Fb gets a tiny piece of the corner up and away, not called, <5% on Gameday, 2-1 Curve low in the zone, driven high to deep left center, wind knocks it down, and makes Crow-Armstrong miss off the end of his mitt, a 2 base E-8 for Rizzo. |
