I think he would. He is an amazing player. 50 steals would be amazing in the modern era.
The fact that he can pitch, even if he did not, makes it all the more amazing.

Pretty sure the "SOMETHING" is Ohtani's interpreter gambling on games, and unfounded allegations Ohtani was somehow involved.

Oh ok...sort of a Pete Rose thing. Gotcha. Sorta...with zero evidence to back up the allegation. There is no evidence he actually bet on games. He did pay off, or his account was used to he denies knowing of it, gambling debts for a former friend. That is illegal in the US even if they are not your debts. But the DOJ let the case go.

He has produced an amazing season, Judge's season is better. Not if you think stealing bases is important - of which I am the very rare person who does. I also think batting average is better than OBP because walking is infinitely boring. A major reason I don't watch games, hitting for anything but home runs is a lost art especially on the Yankees. I can remember when hitting .290 by a player was not an amazing feat for this team.

What evidence would you expect to find. It is physically impossible to prove why money is spent. It was spent illegally, it was his account.

You are responsible for money spent out of your account. It is basic fiscal responsibility, and the norm for wealthy people in the US, to have individuals monitor large withdrawals from your accounts. It is difficult for me to believe his bank never asked him about why such large sums were being withdrawn or that he never looked at his banking statements - these are huge sums of money going out to someone whe would not have known if his claims that he did not gamble are true. Hundreds of thousands (or maybe millions) of dollars went to an illegal gambler. I think I would have noticed such withdrawals from my account.

OK...so do you believe he should've been charged and subsequently banned from MLB if convicted?
