I was yelling stay in, stay in!! on that foul pop, but it didn't. Cutter misses 4-5 inches outside, not close, called ball 3. Crowd groans but 0% and not close. Sinker below and outside middle, fouled off. 9th pitch of the at bat coming. Schmidt comes set, then thinks about it and steps off. Curve up and in, ties him up a bit, but he flares it over 1st, Soto has no shot, falls for a single, Edman reads it perfectly and scores without hesitation, 3-0 Dodgers. Yanks in big trouble here. Not a problem. Yankees are the only team ever to win the first 3 in a post season series, only to lose the next 4...This year they're playing to do the opposite. |

Slider hangs inside, but ties him up a bit, popped to the left side, infield fly, Volpe catches, 2 down.

Cutter misses well high, 2-0
Cutter to the very top of the zone, taken, 2-1
Good backdoor slider hits the corner, waist high, gets a huge swing and a miss, 2-2
Schmidt looks in, then steps off to reset again.
Schmidt and Trevino can't agree, so he steps off before an automatic ball call.
Sinker way inside almost hits him, 3-2
Slider in the zone up and away, he spoils it.
Schmidt at 30 pitches this inning.

Cutter up and in, lined hard and just foul down the right side, nearly a 2 run double.
Slider backs up outside, ball 4.
Bases loaded, 2 down and that should be it for Schmidt.
