There are multiple rumors circulating that the Texas Rangers would be open to dealing first baseman Nathaniel Lowe in their effort to get under the LT limit this easons. By New York standards he is still cheap ( $10 M ?) and will be under control unitl '27. Anyone have an opinion ?

He hits left handed but hits lefties and righties very evenly. He's not a star but an extremely solid starting 1b. I think he has 2 years of control left. He would probably not come cheaply, it would all depend on what Texas wants and what other teams are willing to offer compared to the Yankees.

I think he may have also been a GG finalist or won the award one year. GG isn't always an indication if a player is good defensively but it is more often than not.

The buzz has the Rangers determined to get under the LT. Rhe price might be a lot less normal.Rhere are lots of ways for Cashman to use Hal's money to improve the team with the cable television money disappearing for 1/3 of MLB.

From a quick read, Lowe was considered a pretty bad defender at one point but has worked to improve and has been good recently.
Sign me up for him as a hitter, but I think it might be a stretch to say he has good power though. In his 4 years as a regular he has one year (2022) with a slugging percentage of .492 and 27 HRs. In the other 3 years he's been between .401 and .415 for slugging and 16-18 home runs. For a first baseman, I'd go so far as saying he lacks power actually.
He's been pretty remarkedly consistent. All 4 years as a regular his OBP has been between .357 and .361. That 2022 year had a spike up to .302 with the power surge, but in the other 3 years he's hit between .262 and .265. His SO% was higher in his first year as a regular (25.2% in 2021) but it's been between 22.1% and 22.8% each of the last 3 years. That 2022 year where his average and power spiked his walk rate dipped to 7.4%, but in his other 3 years as a regular it's been between 12.5% and 12.9%.
The only concerning trend I see is that in his first 2 years playing his hard hit % was 45.5% and 45.0%. The last two years it's been 41.6% and 40.2%. That's still better than league average, but not by much.
Overall though it feels like he'd be a real solid addition. It's just a matter of price.

Boras is going to take another one of his clients through to April without a contract.
Is he serious with this? I don't want any part of Bregman regardless, but I can't believe any other team would if these are real demands.

Hey Rizz, I turn 70 next year and I might be an improvement at 1B.

Brewers, Deivi García Agree To Minor League Deal I was surprised to learn he is only 25. Seems like he's been around longer than that.

It depends on what player or players the Rangers want from the Yankees.
