Nunez is sort of made for Fenway, and I think his hitting will be effective there. The issue with Nunez has always been his inconsistent defense. If the Sox can live with that, I can too. Nothing better than having a guy out in the field that can't field well enough to support his offense. Oh, it would be different if Nunez could hit say, .340/25/100, but he won't. He's hit around .300/15/70, and he'll throw some balls into the stands and watch enough of them trickle between his feet that what he provides on offense isn't going to be a net plus vs. having a much less effective bat in the lineup...Where will he play, BTW? I think the Sox will see him as a super-utility guy. The good news is that they'll be right. He can play several defensive positions, all at average or below efficiency. Go ahead and plug him in Red Sox. I can't wait to see the highlight films...

Nobody here is talking about Chris Dickerson being released by the Rays. What's with that? Last year he hit .280 with 27 HR. His slash was pretty close to his nice little career line. He's twenty-eight years old, and you can't even find a trade partner? Something is up there. What did he do? Is he the one that shot Estrada? Has he been using PEDs? On the FBI most wanted list? Now, he DOES swing at damn near everything, but when you can hit .280 with pop and a little bit of speed, you have some value...Hell, half the Orioles hitters can't produce what Dickerson did and they swing at everything, too...Maybe he'll wind up with Buck...if he's not going to go to jail for something...

That they have. I don't understand why, but it seems that they do...Including the original one, Dick Stuart, who had a couple of nice (to say the least) offensive seasons for them in 1963 and 1964. He made a LOT of errors while in Boston though. Playing first base, it's got to be really hard to find a way to make 29 errors in a season like he did in '63. Then, he made 24 more in '64. The Red Sox cut bait with Stuart just at the right time, too...He went downhill quickly after they swapped him to the Phillies...
Stuart was also famous at the time for having hit the most home runs in a single professional season when he hit 66 HR in class A for Pittsburgh. He followed that up with 45 more the following year before getting promoted. I would have loved to have read Patrick's comments about Stuart's defense back then, but since Patrick was probably not born yet, that wasn't meant to be... (:

The Pirates end up trading for Dickerson. At least the Rays saved 1.45 million. www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/02/rays-trade-corey-dickerson-pirates-daniel-hudson.html

Which franchise is cheaper? Tampa or Miami? Weird they're both in Florida...

Which franchise is cheaper? Tampa or Miami? Weird they're both in Florida... Like everyone else in Florida, they have to make ends meet on a fixed income...

DID someone mention NUNEZ?
"Tequila, Nunez just signed with the Red Sox, what do you think...?"
Tequila: "Will hurt Yanks' Chances of going to WS..."
[img alt=" " src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/udcwFqPimnXDtjoTmoVL.gif" class="smile"] Nunez will crash and burn this year. Just watch. If Nunez returned to the yanks it would be our luck that he goes back to error prone nunez.

As far as the rays Logan Morrison hit roughly .250 38 hr and 85 rbi yet only got a 1 yr 6 million dollar deal, however, I do not feel bad for the guy after his remarks about Gary Sanchez last year. Point being it seems the rest of MLB isn't impressed by Rays players as Dickerson and Morrison are gotten for basically scraps/barely any money.

Mike Moustakas agrees to deal to return to Royals
Mike Moustakas and Kansas City have agreed to a one-year contract that keeps him with the Royals and guarantees the third baseman $6.5 million, according to ESPN and multiple reports.
The agreement, which is pending a physical, was first reported by Yahoo.
The deal could be worth up to $22.7 million over two seasons, a person familiar with negotiations told The Associated Press. Moustakas gets a $5.5 million salary this year and has the chance to earn $2.2 million in performance bonuses based on plate appearances. The deal includes a $15 million mutual option for 2019 with a $1 million buyout.
Should have just taken the qualifying offer for 17.4 million!

The strikes against him as he sought an eight year contract were:
His 38 HR last season were by far his career high, so few suitors may have believed he could repeat that. His lowly total of 34 BB included 7 IBB. It's almost impossible to walk him. (Career OBP is only .305) His fielding is not bad, but his TZR and range factor have eroded considerably from a his peak of 2012. At age 29 he already runs more like a hippo cut off at the knees than a gazelle. It costs a lot to put a name that long on the back of uniform.
