He's also not hitting well... Uh-oh... BUST!!!!! hehe. Of course if he was a Yankee I'd be saying it's just spring training but I still distain him for not coming to the Yankees

The strikes against him as he sought an eight year contract were: His 38 HR last season were by far his career high, so few suitors may have believed he could repeat that. His lowly total of 34 BB included 7 IBB. It's almost impossible to walk him. (Career OBP is only .305) His fielding is not bad, but his TZR and range factor have eroded considerably from a his peak of 2012. At age 29 he already runs more like a hippo cut off at the knees than a gazelle. It costs a lot to put a name that long on the back of uniform. Didn't realize how little he walked. That's Castro walk numbers

Of course if he was a Yankee I'd be saying it's just spring training but I still distain him for not coming to the Yankees Don't forget the struggles Matsui had as a rookie with the Yanks. As the story goes, Posada noticed something in batting practice one day in June and had a talk with Matsui about it. Matsui made some adjustments- and the rest is history. The problem is that Matsui was a VERY established hitter with around 5000 ABs in Japan before ever playing in the states. Adjustments are a matter of course for a veteran hitter. This was a concern I raised over the winter on Otani- he really has a VERY limited amount of experience as a hitter- so adjustments are not a strong suit. He barely has 1000 ABs from Japan- spread out over 5 years. Otani is going to need a TON of "coaching up"- and I'm not sure he will get it. He still has to spend countless hours working on his pitching - which is going to limit the time available to work on adjustments for hitting.

I remember when Kenny first got the job as a weather man in Baltimore. He was really bad, but he cut his teeth on that and became a good sports announcer. Thirty years or so later, I'm be sorry to see him end his career...

Who's missing? [img alt=" " src="//storage.proboards.com/6828121/images/UhLYtfPmGggOgPkFrmgW.gif" class="smile"] How does a samll market team, like the Yankees compete with this?

Three of the six from California, and four of the six from the NL...Remember when the Red Sox used to say the Yankee spending was unfair? Now, I guess it's unfair that the Yankees young talent is performing well...

Chris Davis batting leadoff for the O's... did I read that right? Did Showalter have a stroke... and not a stroke of genius...
