I was just reading comments yesterday or day before from Cards fans about him and that's the impression that I got. Then again, fans of any team are never happy with their manager. Cards fans seem to think and I quote "the only reason he has a job managing the Cards are his good looks." Apparently and this is just from what I read on the comments, he doesn't do a good job with rookies / younger players... and he was promoting the way Norris was treating the rookie 105 mph pitcher. Norris is a joke and was never liked on any of his teams... so that's on Norris but Matheny could've said something about it.

I really wish Harper would be a National for life... Same with Trout... JUDGE... And Betts. How great would it be for the sport if stars can stay with one team for life. Obviously with the O's and Machado it's different. They should've traded him years ago to rebuild because they're going nowhere and that would have given them chips to get better faster

It might turn little kids off to love a player just to have him leave. Like a favorite character getting killed off a tv show

Stars should all come to the Yankees.

I get caught in between on the subject of stars on the Yankees. On the one hand, we want a great team, and while we marvel at how great the 1998 Yankees were without a "superstar", in reality we had several of them...Looking at the greatness of the franchise, we have come through many eras with many very big stars. To have Babe Ruth was one thing, but when you added Gehrig, and then Lazzeri and Dickey to those old teams in the 1920's and 30's, it was an embarrassment of riches. To have DiMaggio lead the way for over a decade, then Mantle and Maris was all amazing. I don't even want to get into the "modern day" stars, the list is too long...
There is something special about winning when the roster looks like a good team but there isn't one player that you feel desperately that he can't get an injury...If you never heard of it, look up Babe Ruth's Belly Ache. Check several sites, because there are many stories about what really occurred in 1925, but there is no mistaking one thing. The Yankees had grown old, Gehrig was just starting his career and the under-performance and temporary loss of Babe Ruth sent the Yankees spiraling...There wasn't enough talent on the team to carry them through without the big star...

I couldn't believe the backlash Tavares just got for "leaving" the Isles. It seems like stars almost always play at least 10 years for the team that drafted them. To be honest idgaf about any of them as long as Judge never leaves.

Maybe he'll wear down as the season goes on.... He usually does. I heard the announcers mention on the last game pitched against the Yankees that the Red Sox are working on managing Sale's work load this season to see if that helps him do better in the second half of the season. As a comparative, last season Sale pitched 6.7 innings per start. This year he's thrown 6.5 innings per start. Last season, he averaged 107 pitches per start, this season it's 101. The one place they be succeeding is in number of starts with higher pitch counts. So far this season he already has 8 starts where he threw between 80-99 pitches, where the past two seasons he only had five such starts per year. Last year he threw 100-119 pitches 26 times. So far this season, only 12 times. Will that be enough to make a difference? It's awfully hard to pull your pitcher in a close game when he's doing well and the division race is close, so we'll see what they do down the stretch. Maybe the skelatonous dude will crack a rib and fall in half...

I don't want Sale to get injured... I rather beat them while they're at full strength so they have no excuses about the losers they are...
