www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/08/blue-jays-reportedly-trade-josh-donaldson.html10:41pm: This deal is in the books, per announcements from both teams. Toronto will pay down $2.7MM of the nearly $4MM still owed to Donaldson for the rest of the season, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic (Twitter link). 10:23pm: The Jays will get a player to be named later “with some value” while covering some of Donaldson’s remaining salary, per Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca (via Twitter). Paul Hoynes of the Plain Dealer suggests (on Twitter) that the return will in some manner be dependent upon Donaldson’s health status. Per the announcement, it’ll be determined by January 30th of next year. 7:47pm: The Blue Jays have struck a deal to send star third baseman Josh Donaldson to the Indians, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports (Twitter links). The agreement is still not yet official; the return has yet to be reported.

www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/08/brewers-to-acquire-gio-gonzalez.htmlThe Brewers have reached agreement on a trade with the Nationals to acquire lefty Gio Gonzalez, per a club announcement. $250K of international bonus capacity is also heading to the Brewers, who’ll send minor-leaguers KJ Harrison and Gilbert Lara to D.C. So far as is known at this point, the Brewers will take over all of Gonzalez’s salary despite the fact that he cleared waivers.

Demi Orimoloye really should have been traded to Baltimore.

Demi Orimoloye really should have been traded to Baltimore. Especially if he has no plate discipline. That seems to be quite the theme for the organization. My best guess is that they figure that since the place is a bandbox anybody could hit a home run at any moment...

Robinson Cano. Before his suspension he had played in at least 159 games for 11 consecutive seasons and in his thirteen total MLB seasons he had never hit fewer than 33 doubles. Today he’ll play in his 55th game of the year, and so far has struck 14 doubles.
He’s been a huge disappointment to this once ardent fan...

Two important numbers to remember...
.331 is one of them. The other one is .295. In baseball both numbers can mean greatness or atvleast borderline greatness. A batting average of .331 will win the batting title in many years. One of .295 is going to get you a lot of attention.
If the .331 and .295 are winning percentages however, that’s a whole different story. Those winning percentages currently belong to the KC Royals and the Baltimore Orioles.
Let us give thanks for all of our recent “failures”. We are indeed fortunate...
